Alaska Observation Post

Ivarr of Evasion, Survival Alaska and I carry out a patrol to establish and conduct an Observation Post in the Alaskan wilderness.
I cover the Infil, Recce, Occupation, Conduct and Exfil phases of the OP.
This was also a great opportunity to trial some new gear, the Squall Jacket from Jayjays, the DG3 Pack from Crossfire and the Recon Smock from Varusteleka. Reviews to follow.

Good job. We always used to carry a roll (a number of small ones) of chicken wire fence. Really helps when using grass, pieces of sod, especially when away from tree cover.

Tom, You have followed the drills. My questions are: 1. Why did you not have any overhead thermal overhead cover to reduce your heat signature? 2. Why did you not have any insulation from the ground? Considering the time of the year and your location your heat signature would be a potential "giveaway" especially to a per enemy. A good old pussers closed foam roll mat would made your night out more comfortable.

This was awesome brothers. During the OP Occupation phase, would you still eat in the OP or do it a distance away? Also, during the night would you even be able to see meaningful details of the target at that distance even with Nods? Excellent work, you guys are motivating!

Cheers! Depends on how you are operating. If you had a split OP, with an LUP to the rear, then you'd just eat in the LUP. If you just had the OP itself you could eat there, but only cold food, no cooking.

@PreparedPathfinder I only asked because I didn't see it in your op and assumed that if you were compromised that you could chip off with your belt kit and EDC ( for want of a better word). How tactically, in reality, does getting compromised and grabbing your shit together work in dynamic?
