People don't realise that even the manufacturers who make these rations say that they shouldn't be consumed for more than 21 days. This is because they are TOXIC! There's an abnormal amount of preservatives and crap in this stuff. Yet we go on tour for 6-12 months lol. Enjoy. :)

Wonder what you think of a heavier machete type knife like a ESSE Junglas. Have one of those and would think it would work great for the jungle, unless your swinging it all day clearing a path to walk through (cuz its heavier).

I hated plc bergan. Simply because they only had short or long back. That never made any sense to me. Should have done a medium as well. Or adjustable back frame, external frame is a godsend so your back is vented even in temperate climate. This looks a great bit of kit. mesh side pouches is great idea. Ive got them on ecm daysac. Good review as always. I used to laugh when we attempted to do contact drills with bergans on. Not a chance of getting away. Only option would be to dump them and leg it. But we paracticed time and time again with them on. Better than that was contact drills on skis or snow shoes. Even better fun. Those were the days. Groin strains a plenty. i never understood why cspep was so small. It used to be a nightmare trying to fit bergan etc.

If one can only replenish water at the end of the day of climbing, even during a hot summer (such as we just had in Croatia - and that means QUITE a few liters), one can easily fit enough for 3 days if extending the size with external pouches.

It's all down to personal preference and what suits you best. However the belt is designed to sit on your hips, as that is where the weight is carried most effectively.

I'm still working on assembling this, but I've started by getting an Esbit 1100 cooking stove in hard-anodized aluminum as the container: it's a little larger, AND since it's a stove unto itself, won't require me to carry a separate unit inside (I hope). It just barely fits into my "bum bag" from Maxpedition.
