Did you treat the logs before you put them back in place? They appear to be in better condition?

We did not. We did cut some new logs to put across the top of the cabin as tie beams before we installed the rafters to help reinforce the structure of the cabin overall. The original cabin just had rafters with no tie beams. We decided not to clean or treat the logs so that the cabin kept it's original "aged" look.

Hi. Yeah, good point. Not everything we do in this series is exciting to everyone. Just trying to document as much as we can. It's a project that we lived and documented much like a journal, so we wanted to include as much of the daily routine as possible. It's not a "how-to" and we're not pros.
