I so want to visit Alaska. Years ago I worked for a Canadian tour operator here in the UK, and sent thousands of passengers over to BC, up the Inside Passage, and into Alaska. I love the feel of the place, and even have a copy of 'The Milepost', not that I would ever consider driving there. It would be the Alaska Railroad all the way. Thanks for a great video. One day I'll make it.

@@GroundedLifeTravel Update! We did the 7-day Alaskan cruise from Anchorage to Vancouver Sept 2022. We made sure to spend a couple of days in Anchorage & Vancouver. It was such a great trip. AK is beautiful. Next time we go we want to spend a couple of days in Denali and Fairbanks etc.

We love your videos. Last year in late April we took the Empire Builder from Seattle to Chicago, the California Zephyr to San Francisco, The Coast Starlight to LA, and then the Coast Starlight again from LA to Seattle. Loved it. This September we are taking the Alaska Railroad, Goldstar Service Anchorage to Denali, then after two days back to Anchorage. Next year we have plans on VIA rail Halifax to Vancouver with multiple days in Halifax, Montreal, and Toronto. Please be safe and look forward to more videos.

So beautiful! Alaska is on my bucket list. Watching this video, looks like I will need to book a train too! One question, was salmon a dinner option? My second favorite food, beside my homemade cheesecake, is Alaska Salmon and I was told to go to Alaska during the summer when it's salmon run season. As beautiful as the view was crossing that gorge, I probably would have stayed inside. I am terrified of hights, and the sounds of the train crossing that bridge would give me nihtmares. Who knows, I might be daring, especially if I could get the cocktails before hand. Love your videos! You give such great tips for travelers.

YES!!! An open car is what I've always wanted on a train trip! Is there a time limit? I would never want to leave. I would not care if I was freezing or if it was pouring rain. I want to see things for real not through a glass. I want to feel the wind and smell the air! Oh, this would be my dream trip. I'd give anything to see mountains! Ok, I'd probably have to close my eyes over that bridge. At 9:43 it looks like a painting! God's creation is so beautiful. Thank you for sharing your adventures. It means a lot to those of us who are not able to travel for financial / health / other personal reasons.
@GroundedLifeTravel2 жыл бұрын
There isn't a time limit, so you can stay out there as long as you'd like. Most of the time we were the only ones out there. The train wasn't that full though as it was mid May.

You should! We didn't do the cruise from Seattle, but we did the 5 hour Glacier Cruise from Whittier that you can do in conjunction with a train or big cruise. It'll be on our other Alaska video that isn't out yet, since you do it after taking the train to Whittier.

What a beautiful trip! Great tip about timing the trip before the cruise season. I will remember that. I am curious, Rob, how you limit wind noise in your videos? That open car had to be very windy, but you seemed to get the ambient sounds of the train without wind. How did you do it?
