I was so excited to see this. As a child I lived at Ft. Richardson, Alaska where my father was stationed. We took a trip to Whittier and I’ve never forgotten it. There is a huge abandoned building there, the Buckner Building. I’m sure you saw it although I didn’t see it in the video. That building contained the entire army post. We stayed there in the guest house.

Yes, we did see it, the cruise guide pointed it out, but we weren't in a position to film it when he did.

@@GroundedLifeTravel Hey I just had one more question. Just saw ur video on traveling coach. I’m taking a weekend trip next month, only a few hours and you said to buy coach tickets ahead of time. It’s been many years since I’ve taken Amtrak, can I just buy it at the ticket window and be able to get a seat like I used to? Or have things changed that much Lol 😆. I’m thinking it shouldn’t be too crowded, going from NJ to CT on Friday morning.
@chrisdobrowolski27832 жыл бұрын
@@yvettenj Coach you should be able to get a seat at the ticket window most of the time unless sold out. Remeber Coach tickets do not let you eat at the dinning Car but you can pay for food in the Cafe Car with Credit Cards only. Or you can bring food and non-alchoic beverage to drink in the Coach car but at your seat not at the Cafe.

Hey found your channel and it’s been so informative and interesting!! Question: I’m considering taking Amtrak (instead of flying route) for first time to see my son. It’s only a 3hr trip however, only travel time is to depart at 9pm arrive at 12am. I will also bring along my terrier along and with the choices of coach or roomette, do you feel it’s worth having that privacy etc for those 3 hrs? Any tips for bringing my pet? Any specific video you’d recommend for a short hop and general info too would be great! Hopefully it’s less stressful than the airport scene these days!! Thanks much💛
@GroundedLifeTravel2 жыл бұрын
They don't allow pets in the rooms, only coach, so that should make the decision for you. You'd also need to get a pet ticket for your pet when you book. 3 hours in coach should be fine!
