Great video! It’s a dream of ours to crab in Alaska!

Ahoy there! It was our dream for many, many years too. Once we got here, the expression “WTH were you waiting for?” really hit home. Whether for subsistence or sport, it’s an indescribable feeling. Thanks for coming along!

That's a lot of work for one crab dinner, but you made it all yours from start to finish.

It’s all about the journey, so if we get any crab that’s just a delightful bonus. Might film again this fall to show what a full pot looks like bough… 😎

The other boat has one under repair (although the Norwegian fender trick works surprisingly well)
@joewoodwood13063 жыл бұрын
You need to look up Columbia River anchor system. You can use the boat like you do but the pot won’t fall when you stop pulling
@Buoy4AK3 жыл бұрын
We are actually familiar with that system. Plan on installing something similar if we don’t get the pot puller working soon. Thanks for the suggestion!!

@Buoy4AK3 жыл бұрын
Ahoy there Peter! Funny you should ask, we’re just getting geared up for a halibut subsistence longlining trip & will definitely post a video of it (gotta fill the freezers after all 😎)

Jo Bob get a tub and feed your crab line in it. Catches water and you can coil the rope and store it in it. Frickn tourist. Ha Ha .

Is that a geiger counter on your jacket and are the effects of Fukushima that concerning!?

Fortunately no glowing fish up here (yet anyway). Just an SDU-5e strobe light that I hope NEVER to need 🤞

What is the water temp?
@Buoy4AK3 жыл бұрын
Can’t recall exactly, but I think 40-ish (plenty chilly)
@wesleymonske81032 жыл бұрын
In Seattle its always 48° because we're at 48° latitude! Weird science huh.

Alot of work for a few crabs. But I bet they taste good.
@Buoy4AK3 жыл бұрын
Definitely a lot of work for what ended up being two meals. Still, not getting skunked felt good! We’ve got some bigger crab pots ready to go once our pot puller repairs are completed (will be too heavy to pull by hand), so maybe we’ll do another video once we break out the big gear. Thanks for commenting!
