Thanks a lot for explaining how you managed to get to Colombia by boat. This will be very useful for when I start planning my cycle tour through the Americas…. I found you just recently, and now watching all the episodes. Very helpful! Thanks! Erik (Belgium)

Great video! Thanks for taking the time to animate the map through the Darien gap. We met at the "MTB City" in Helena over a year ago, glad to see you're still cranking it!

Such great content. Half ashamed, half happy to say I'm living vicariously through your videos while I'm dealing with a long term injury. Stoked to hear about your upcoming mountain section. Keep it up Alex!

Columbia looks a place of outstanding beauty. Can't believe how "easy" the leg between Panama and Columbia was, at least you certainly made it look easy. South America will be awesome. Thanks for posting this update. Bob...

Colombia really blew me away every day. I was also surprised at how easy the crossing was. It really seemed like people were used to cycle travelers passing through.

Wahoooo!!! South America here you come!! Well done! You're the first that we know of that entered Columbia in Necocli, so this is nice to know. Once we get back on the road to complete our ride to Ushuaia we figured we'd enter in Turbo, but this looks like a nice entry point too. Thank you for sharing!! We've heard from others that Columbia was their most favorite place to cycle through. Take care and happy cycling! ~Ron & Petra

Yeah! I loved Colombia! Such a beautiful country and such nice people! I had assumed that I would be arriving in Turbo as well, but the ferry from Capurgana goes to Necoclí. I'm sure you'll love South America as well!

Hallo Alex van Gelder Thanks for your videos. They are very interesting and show beautiful landscape. I am following you for some time and now I have a question about crossing Darien Gap. First congratulation for your decision to cross by speed boat and the smooth and easy way you did it. There are other stories which tell more complicated journeys. Also the mechanic and the repair of the hub in Necocli was extra class. How much did it cost from Puerto de Carti to Necoli? All the best on your way south and best regards.

Freehub body went bad, that happens over time. Sometimes just cleaning the pawls can get that working again.
@Crankingit

That makes sense. It was starting to make noise in Panama before the boat rides. I probably would have tried to get it cleaned if there wasn't a new Shimano hub available.

It was a little stressful, I was worried I wouldn't have enough cash, but everything went so smoothly, I didn't have to worry.
