On day two of a photo tour for whales in Juneau Alaska, our group of six photographers we're sitting in our boat, with the engine off, hoping a mother and calf we saw surfacing nearby might come closer and within range of photographing. We were just talking amongst ourselves when, out of the blue, the humpback whale calf Blew its spout within 8 feet of the boat. Scared us all silly but also got the adrenaline running. For the next eight minutes this calf swam around and around our boat. It spouted and swam in circles and upside down swimming next to us. Watch this nearly unedited video and see just how much fun and exciting this was for the group of us. There were other whale watching boat fairly close who saw us enjoying this once in a lifetime experience.
