I stopped burning candles. My cats kept going up to them and burning their whiskers. I do not want my house to burn down. I now have battery operated candles for ambiance and have battery operated flash lights and lanterns. I feel a lot safer without live candles burning.

I went to thrift stores and bought glass hurricane tall globes. They look like open vase on both ends. Keeps my 5 cats out of the candles. At the time i hought them i got them at bout $1 each!!!!!

I've been Prepping since the late 70's and have a huge stockpile of various items. My team will be here on the farm when SHTF and we will have security 24/7. The one area that I am not stocked up on is women's hygiene. Pretty much everything else I have plenty of so I will be able to barter for anything I missed and for labor. Keep Prepping my friends.

Just last week, I stocked up on sewing materials and this weekend I will be stocking up on toilet paper. I have lots of seeds, but am debating just buying a few extra packages to stick into my freezer while they are still available in the stores. My garden is up and running. The squash plants are blooming! If they aren't all male flowers, then maybe I will be eating some zucchini in the near future.

Often the male flowers come first until the squash plant matures to the point it can produce a female bloom and support the growth of a squash. When you finally see a female bloom you can hand pollinate it too to help it along.

Good reminders. We also have an RV and we live in an area that is prone to wildfires and might need to evacuate on short notice. Since you're also a RV owner I would like your thoughts on keeping it prepared. We deal with hot weather so leaving things in the RV during hot weather could be a problem. Thank you!!

I do like to keep things for emergencies in my RV. It's easy to keep it stocked with dishes, towels, batteries, emergency lights, tools, even clothing. Food and water can be a challenge, store some in your RV and rotate every few month. Hitch it up, go camping, and use that food!

I have an RV too. I’ve been thinking that maybe a tote you can fill with supplies you can keep in a closet or garage that is ready to grab and go in your car or truck until you get to your destination, then unpack into your trailer.

We keep our RV stocked and ready for anything. If we had to leave abruptly all we’d have to do is gather up the dogs and cats with their extra food, toss in some food (we have a lot of freeze dried ingredients plus freeze dried just-add-water meals in jars) and water for traveling, we have a Berkey stashed under one of the dining benches for water once we get settled. We live in northern New England and we see a lot of snow and cold weather (2+ feet last week) so we can’t store much liquid or canned food year round, so for us freeze dried is an important part of our readiness plan. It gives me a lot of peace of mind!❤️🇺🇸

Just finished dehydrating beans, after preparing them for conventional cooking, so my water storage will go much further after shtf. I do the same with rice, pre-prepare my own "converted" rice. Thanks for your regular common sense reminders.❤

VIP with gas cooking or just open fire cooking "BAKING SODA"⁉️ For cooking, yes, but Boy Scouts know it will extinguish fires, just keep some easy access by cooking & grab & throw like flour it should go out esp a grease fire. Seen it work!😊

Keep reminding people, AG! Prep and safety. ANYTHING can, and probably will, happen: personal, regional, or worldwide troubles. I have a lot of Walmart and Dollar Tree matches that simply will not light on the box! STRIKE ANWHERE is the way to go,(and lighters). I will use the non-strikeable ones to help light kindling.

During the Dust Bowl they used the powdered dust to wipe the cooking utensils and the plates and to get food off. Then wiped them down. It may not have been the most hygenic option but it worked. 😊

I buy firewood and kerosene during the summer when it's cheaper and in low demand. The first time it gets cold the price of firewood jumps $40+ a load . I learned that lesson about cold medicine this past winter also, stocking up on that now .

I live in NYC area, and I would advise people to stay out of city & subways. It's a problem they invited that was due to blow up & now after it's insane they complain. I work for a "never fail" bank and they're laying off.

Having the same problem even here in Colorado. Now there are many tent cities all over, and the residents get on buses or the rail system, and go all over the area often stealing and causing other crimes. There was a man who was in one of those tent cities who said through an interpreter that he was disappointed he came here and didn't get the free things that "they' promised to them. So now they are complaining and likely will start to be more aggressive. There are people being accosted in the parking lots even in broad daylight, women being harassed and approached. Not good yet they keep sending planes to get more to bring in.

Q 99 Cent Only Stores are permanently closed. A liquidation company has taken over, and selling off all remaining merchandise by June 3, 2024. If you need anything at all from that chain, drive around because different stores sell off at different rates, and you may find 😉 things you need. Sadly, 14000 employees will need to find work elsewhere or apply for unemployment benefits. I wish 🤞 all 14,000 workers good 👍 luck ❤ and Only the best!!! For those who depended on the chain, I recommend heading to ALDI, Dollar Tree, and Walmart for low-priced items. Yes, it's a little farther, but it's going to be worth it. I wish 🤞 all the shoppers the best as well. ❤ Q❤

We find good deals at thrift stores and second hand stores, but some of them are raising their prices too. Now that garage sale season is starting, sometimes that's a good place to find some deals too.

Thank you for another good video. We are in Colorado and have a problem in the bigger cities with the migrant tent cities all over, plus those living in the provided housing are allowing them to be run down. Big problems with many of those residents getting on free buses, light rail and other transportation or even stealing vehicles and going all over the area, crime is going up. Yet the mayor and other officials have no solution. I think having extra water is important at all times. We had a big windstorm here and the local power company turned off the power without notice saying it would help stop wildfires if the power lines came down. Days later people still didn't have power and some had lost the food in their freezer and fridge. Seems expecting the unexpected is necessary. In addition to necessities, getting some affordable self care items will help too. Things such as good books, music, craft items, bubble bath for example. Some vices like alcohol can be expensive but there could be quite a few things within your budget that can bring you some pleasure and comfort.

Hi Alaska Granny 👋🏻 You can make ant bait with equal parts sugar and borax. Mix with just enough water to make a gel or paste. You can put it on cotton balls and place them in the path. Keep out of reach of pets and kids.

What about self defense? If you don’t have or feel comfortable with a weapon, keeping Wasp and hornet spray or bear spray could be a good deterrent, both spray out pretty good distance. PepperSpray or Mace.

Yes, remember sprays. A family member that’s in law enforcement has encouraged the rest of us to focus on wasp spray like he and some of his fellow workers do when they are off duty and to carry it with you especially when in large parking lots like shopping centers. It sprays out quite far and if you aim for the face, it sticks to the skin. It was successful for him at one time. Apparently the bear spray is regulated by PETA and they don’t want the bears to be hurt. Just sayin’

i’ve always been a firearm, supporter and owner. I can remember already had conflicts myself and the restaurant with some individuals from overseas and going to the hospital then to jail I guess yesterday I seen a group of six adults not from our country walking down the street altogether working their way to neighborhood just looking at the area. Yes, I was watching them as I was out DoorDash trying to make a little bit of money for myself, to buy more toys anyway, to make a long story short, my guns were always put up and secure, and now I pretty much always have one with me and at night time I have them locked and loaded and laying around the house it’s different areas I could always fly my way back to another adult toy so basically I’m looking forward to this Bellas coming into my house in the middle of the night. I know they’re going to be armed and I’m well prepared for the situation happens this time they’ll be no going to jail for them. I have to watch my words because KZbin really isn’t like me very much, I speak the truth
