Alastair Caldwell podcast

Ex-McLaren team manager Alastair Caldwell joins us for our second podcast of 2016. We look back at how he got his foot in the door at the now-Woking-based outfit, his memories of Bruce McLaren, the 1976 World Championship with James Hunt and which driver impressed him the most.
You will also hear about our request for stories from anyone who was at Brands Hatch in 1976 for the British Grand Prix. In the July issue of the magazine we're looking back at that day and, instead of giving you the (well-told) story from the paddock, we want to hear from you. Were you there? Alastair Caldwell, a National Treasure and I love his take on Modern F1. I wish Motor Sport Magazine would do more of these interviews to document this history of great men and machinery. Absolutely this guy deserves to be in an F1 sports Hall of Fame, along with many other mechanics and engineers and team managers that people forget about motorsport please document the stories.

Great stories which confirms how crap F1 and McLaren have become during RD's reign.. Interesting views on what makes a great driver, and not... After listening to quite a few of these podcasts I find that they would be much better WITHOUT Rob Widdows ! Roebuck, Arron, Oxley etc. however always brings well thought questions and genuine understanding and interest for the issues discussed, Widdows however.....
