Beautiful work man, are you programming these sequences manually or are they fully generative? Love it
@AlastairWilsonMusic5 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I consider my music 'semi-self-generated' - I always have a sequence manually programmed, but then I modulate everything and add randomness on top until it's barely recognisable as being manually programmed. Tends to end up being a nice balance between too chaotic and too repetitive :)

Oh yes very nice, some wonderful textures, good tempo and the slowing down and speeding up of it is great. May be a dumb question but how are you controlling the bpm like that?
@AlastairWilsonMusic5 жыл бұрын
The M32 has the option to either use the Tempo input for modulating the internal tempo, or as in input for an external clock. Here, I'm modulating the tempo with a random source from the URA :)

Thanks Alistair time to experiment.

It sounds like a pitch envelope for those tiny little plucks, getting that amazing dripping sound i.imgur.com/AmIy55I.png probably not, but it very much makes me think of that.

There's a bit of glide between the notes, that's probably what you're hearing - no envelopes involved!

Could you do a how to just with the self-generating part of your patches you have come up with yet? It‘s what I‘m really struggling with.

Send me a message on my Facebook page - currently I have no plans to do a tutorial video, but I'm happy to talk you through it!

Do you usually use some compressor/equalizer for processing of the final track?
@AlastairWilsonMusic4 жыл бұрын
Yes, but not much - perhaps a couple dB of EQ shelving, and usually some multiband compression to tame any resonances that stand out.

Why are the bandcamp versions 20 minutes and the YT ones 30?
@AlastairWilsonMusic5 жыл бұрын
Bandcamp limits upload file sizes to start with, so I had to stick to 20 min. Now I just keep it at 20 for consistency
