I remember when I met this thing the first time... After facing Caedus and Jhen Mohran, I was used to elder dragons making me feel small. They, however, were giants, this average sized beast comes down, and it's music starts playing, health starts dropping, and I knew, finally, after breezing through most of the game, I found my monster. Then I was carted.

Seriouusly, but if you think about it, it makes sense. No serious control of his abilities, not as big as other elder dragons, can be completely destroyed by sleep bombs, while other elder dragons can't. "It is said that it has the abilities of all the True Elder Dragons (Kushala Daora, Chameleos, Lunastra and Teostra), although, since it is elementally unstable, it is unable to truly harness that power." That is literally a direct quote from his description.

Although his Frozen Seraphim element is missing the thunder element so maybe they're relations like Fatalis and Dire Miralis. I can't choose which version I like more. The original is more chaotic and intense with more varied instruments (we got a pipe organ and electric guitar), and inconsistent in some places, representing the chaotic nature of the Third Generation's Alatreon, all-powerful but unstable. The new one is more regal and orchestral with more consistency, representing Alatreon's shift in the New World from a chaotic demon to a king of evil, with better control over the elements that it commands. Tl;dr they're both amazing imo

How else could a dragon whose hide is made of steel fly? Still, even though it's very loose pseudo-science with other monsters, they can get away with it because it's a fictional universe with different rules. I think it's actually very smart and appropriate that they have explanations for the powers of the more common monsters, because when you're presented with Elder Dragons and they tell you, "We have no idea how this thing works," it makes it a far more serious situation, and lets you know these monsters are on a whole other level.

plumcrazysomers it's explained easily with many creatures when you loot them, the item descriptions often tell you what it does, for example you loot flame sacs from rathian and rathalos, this helps them breath fire, their spikes produce poison, kushala actually is capable of using her wind is a breath attack produced by her lungs, that intake and push out air at such a high velocity that it can create tornadoes and blast you away, the same can be said for her wind barrier, it is simply her expelling the air out through the cracks in her metal plating, she is metal due to her diet on ores but the cracks in her skin allow air to breeze through her hollow bones and carry her on the air, in a similar manner that our airplanes fly, it's actually easy science

The largest creatures ever to roam the surface of the Earth were much smaller and weighed much less than Lao Shan, not even touching Dalamadur, which would have needed mass-extinction levels of food just to stay alive, even on a snakelike slow metabolism. No, Monster Hunter is in no way scientifically accurate. They may have in-universe science, but it can't correlate with reality in any meaningful sense.

@@Estrell59 I think it's weapons should all have a built in skill that turns it's elemental damage to whatever the monster your fighting is weak to and alatreons armor have a unique skill that ups the damage of all elemental and ailment weapons.
