One other tip is that EVERYONE at high levels started out as level ones. If a person wants to try out a dungeon for the first time and they die, DON'T demand that they leave. Just be nice and help them along, but DO NOT CARRY THEM. Just reading about the raids/dungeons doesn't help anyone. Experience is the best teacher. Plus just rushing through everything wen there are players lagging behind probably means that person has never ran it before. Again, be nice and respectful to them, and they may end becoming a good guildie.

I can somewhat relate, I had my first experience tanking in a dungeon recently and It felt different than how anybody had talked about it, it really just comes down to experience and knowing what you need to do

Good video mate, Id like to add one if you don't mind. Being in a Friendly guild or play with people you know. What i mean, When playing with others not only can you ask for help with certain things but i find when in the "learning" phase of a newer player, playing with friends they are more forgiving on mistakes where as strangers can lead to a lot of frustration, From insults and being kicked from groups which can lead to burn out for newer players and they will not want to progress. Just a thought, try make a few friends before you try to progress into the "harder" aspects of the game, this really helps with your mental state and enjoyment of learning. Cheers peon.

A tip for key-binding, practice with only 1-3 keyboard buttons for the first period, and eventually you will decide to add more key binds to your interface, you will notice the difference as you PvP/PvE how your reaction time is much different and how your dps increases as you take less time to reachout and cast a spell, buff, etc......

Great vid. This is going to be linked to on our guild site. Well done sir. You get a thumbs up and a subscription. Additional things I use in my raids.... 1. Stay Positive. Even though we wiped again, I point out we did better and try to keep everyone in good spirits. I dont foucs on the bad, but focus on our good. With that said, I am not afraid to call people out when needed. If you make mistakes I dont call you an tard, but instead I just say to everyone "Remember when this happens do this." If I see someone is having problems then I ask them what we can do to help. I have even moved a dps to healing during one fright just to cover for a weak healer. 2. It is not about you - Raids are team effort and as such it is important to look out for the needs of everyone in the group. Before every raid we always look up achievements and encourage people to call out what they need., Now that doesn't mean we can do them all, but if we can hit them we try to. Here is my biggest pet peeve. I kick people from raids for this just because I don't have tolerance for it. Other raid leaders do, but I don't. That's just me. 3. Don't come to the raid drunk, stoned, or about to fall asleep, and if you are keep it to yourself. It is simple. I want you to at your best. I want you in beast mode all throughout the raid. I don't feel you can give 200% drunk or stoned. Now I will party with you and hell if you want to get trashed and world PVP or junk run instances I'm down with that. But when we are all set to do some serious raiding, yeah I just can't go for it. We had a raider that had a habit of falling to sleep during the raid. Now he was a great player and funny as hell, but it was so disheartening to spend 15 minutes willing in vent trying to wake him up.

One thing that helped me start using key bindings is a separate USB numeric keypad, which I keep on the left side of my main keyboard. I never learned to touch-type properly, but I can use a numeric keypad with my left hand without having to look at the keys. Another tip that someone shared with me years ago is learning to jump and turn around in the air using my mouse. I practiced this with the Tournament jousting quests, and it's made me a lot more agile with all my toons.

TheLazyPeon I use clicking and do just fine I'm not saying it's superior and I agree it could be inferior but at the same time my immersion in game play comes from clicking, idk maybe it's just me but I find clicking to be like you are actually making your character fight rather than binding buttons and acting like he's just a programmed robot. Idk I could probably be really good if I keybinded, and I may in the future when I play again, but it is fun to click cause it feels like I'm actually telling my toon how to go through the fight.

One tip I can share without my personal playstyle getting involved is if you're strictly a PvE player and want to get a stronger grasp on each of your abilities is to do some PvP. You don't need to go out and be a 2500 gladiator or anything, just play until you are comfortable with the intense situations. This can help give you a strong understanding on your various cooldowns and increase your situational awareness dramatically. Doing this on the classes i love the most has increased my comfortability and skill to much higher levels.

I’m a mythic raider on magtheridon (fire mage main) And I have a few tips for people who are new too raiding 1. Watching a video on the boss 2. Don’t be afraid to make a mistake if your new, most people in low level raids will not get heated over one mistake. 3. Learn how to use your class to the top effect and dps you can. (The wiki is your friend here) 4. Watch top raiders on twitch and KZbin on your class/classes you play the most it will make you a better player overtime Love from sweden

All of these things you mentioned are natural to me :D guess that's a good sign. There is one aspect, however, I do not entirely agree with: playing too many alts will distract you from mastering your main character. From my experience it is much more efficient to actively play no more than two characters, one main, and one "main"-alt so to speak. I get what you're saying that it's important to know other roles and classes - and I couldn't agree more, especially as a raid leader - but you don't have to play them actively (i.e. keeping up with the gearscore and playing in a serious RBG/Arena or raid environment) in order to know their abilities. It's sufficient to try them out a little and gather information from other players or guides. In my experience, too many alts will distract you from your goals - unless you don't care about being "succesful" to some extent, don't play more than one alt at a time. One more thing about practice: if you want to learn everything there is about your class and spec, complete all challenge modes on gold. You'd have to be a fairly decent player to begin with, but the challenge modes will teach you every single one of your crowd control abilities, self and raid cooldowns, talents, etc. Just saying ;-)

The number one way to make yourself a better wow player you ask? Don't have alts! One alt is OK I suppose, but if you're spreading yourself across 3 or more characters all with different talents, abilities, roles and play-styles then you're gonna dilute your skills across them and, in turn, never be as good as the player who mains one class exclusively. I only became a great wow player when I dropped all of my alts and focused on one char exclusively.
@TheLazyPeon
@TheLazyPeon 10 жыл бұрын
Mel1lvar I'd say that's quite true, I have a 90+ alt of each class so I've become more of a jack of all trades rather than a master of a single class/spec.

Most of my alts are level 90 but my main is level 100 and none of my alts have seen the new content which has been better for me I must say. A few expacs ago (WOTLK I think) I noticed I never got better on any of my characters because I was hoping around so much. Once I get my rotations and cooldowns down to a rhythm to where I can do it in my sleep is the only time I move onto another character.

Also, Decursive should be used on ANY character that has any type of dispell ability like a Mage or healer. Also, using Raid UI and showing percentage can help deciding who to prioritize healing

Another tip that goes for most online games: If you continuesly lose a fight for some reason, dont get pissed off and flame every1 else. Usually even you did something wrong, and you will notice that if you start accepting that you are not a paid to play professional and even you do misstakes, you will start working on getting better and this is when you will acctually do better. And soon you will notice that it gets alot easier to win that fight or whatever. This doesnt Apply as much to WoW as other games but in some aspects it will.

I have to agree with the fact that keybinds get easier to use. Since I haven't binded them with my main yet, I often find myself pressing buttons forgetting that they aren't binded to anything. To anyone who has a hell of a time trying to get used to it on your main, like I did, try creating an alt character with using your mouse to click abilities. You won't be bombarded by three hundred keybinds at a time, and you can slowly make your way up to trying this with your main.

Great video, but on the subject of addons I think it's vital that I stress this: EVERYONE needs dbm. I was in a Highmaul normal group yesterday and after about 6 wipes on Ko'ragh the tank revealed that he didn't have DBM downloaded. And didn't particularly seem to care. I mean, okay yeah, we killed the boss on that try, but even afterwards he kept saying 'i DON'T want to' (those exact words) even though he hadn't tried the last boss before and didn't know tactics. Just saying, it saves a helluva lot of time.

I suggest also Mikscrollingbattletext, also from curse.com, it'll keep the damage, healing and everything else (numbers wise) to the left and right of your toon so it doesn't clutter the center of your screen.

Find a class and race that you enjoy playing, make sure that you will enjoy it as it is annoying to realise that you don't like that class when you get to level 30, (trust me i have done that). Learn more about endgame content such as raids. Also one thing that got me hooked is the sick mounts. So set a goal in WoW whether it be get the rarest most badass mount in the game or solo the hardest raid on the hardest difficulty and get amazing loot if you set it and get dedicated trust me, it will be hard to stop. Some advise from a high-performing MoP Challenge Mode player, that is kinda obvious: are not afraid to challenge yourself. Your learning curve greatly depends on your immediate goals and if you are not afraid to wipe once or twice to see what your current limit is, you will see that you are actually already a lot stronger than you might have expected. I see lots of people being afraid to wipe a PUG or otherwise causing harm and greatly underperforming. If you have an overall positive attitude, this will not be an issue. Also I see lots of people who are willing to learn but have no immediate challenging goal. You might want to consider entering some challenging content like Proving Grounds endless, Challenge Modes or a demanding Raid that you are somewhat reluctant to try. I see only one clear reason why I improved my own gameplay: I entered Challenge Modes and kept raising the bar - there was no way of not learning more and more in this situation. Of course my advise only applies to people who want to perform, if you are okay with playing a chilled out style, do not bother adding any kind of stress. However: when you get somewhere it is awesome and performing on a high level will not be stressful anymore.

You don't have to throw your battle.net id out there every chance you get. Clean out your friend list every so often of people that don't log in or don't really communicate with you often. Over time, you'll make some friends, and that can have advantages. Having friends to play with [i.e. random dungeon runs or making lfr queues go faster] can make the game more fun, as it is a social game. Also, you may even get to do some content you can't just randomly do on your own; i.e. one of my battle.net buddies I added from the general forums is a really cool person, and they and some of their guildies run challenge modes, and offered to let me tag along. I never would have been able to do that before. And, my husband made friends with someone from the random group finder for heroic HFC runs. 2. Have fun! When it comes down to it, World of Warcraft is a game. Games are meant to be fun. Yes, optimizing your characters makes the game a little more fun and smoother. I'm not saying don't try and get the best out of your class and spec. I'm just saying that if you want to roll a ton of alts, do it! If you want to take your time reaching max level for the first time, take your sweet ass time and smell those pretty flowers! Play at your pace, find others that can mimic that pace, and just do what interests you. I can attest to it making WoW a much better experience; I had more fun getting to 100 for the first time on my main, even though it took me two weeks of piddling offline and online, but I read quest text, watched cinematics, tamed new pets, did some pet battles, optimized my garrison buildings, and worked on my professions while others were racing and scrambling.

most awesome keybinding is roll mouse wheel up/down/click also with alt and shift give you nice 9 base spells to start with and still have free space on plenty more.

One thing I find incredibly helpful is using the razer Naga mouse. It com's with a keypad on it and allows you to link it to your num pad, making you press buttons and use moves as fast as your thumb can press buttons. Kind of a way of rebuilding but a bit easier to learn.

I love the naga. I like to balance out my skills to the mouse and hotkeys. To have all your skills hotkeyed on the keyboard seems like too much work for the same hand that controls movement.

I'd agree these are good tips, except for the keybinding. I have always been a clicker. I acknowledge that it can make it more difficult to have full awareness, but it absolutely can be done. After years of playing ret paladin, for example, I barely need to look at what I'm clicking anymore. My eyes are constantly moving, making sure everything is fine. Random tip for ret paladins doing PVE...you can prevent a wipe pretty often, by being aware that you have some really good healing tools in your belt. If you see a healer struggling and someone getting low, throw them a lay on hands or a word of glory. If a healer dies, especially in a 5-man, don't hesitate to step in as the healer. continue to DPS, but use your holy power to throw heals to those who need it. ALWAYS be conscious of everyone's health, and you would be amazed how many times you can save the day.

I've been a clicker since vanilla and it really hasn't hindered my ass kicking ability in PvE. As long as you optimize your bars and mouse sensitivity, it's not a big deal. I did all of the Brawler's guild bosses in MoP and the only one I used keybindings for was Hexos. Keybindings are only really necessary in situations like PvP where you have to turn on I dime or get utterly destroyed. *Waits for the inevitable onslaught of disapproval*

You might be able to manage without keybinds but a player who uses them will always be faster, hitting an ability straight out of global is very difficult when clicking, especially when your switching targets between abilities... Just look at the top players, on the pvp and pve side of the game, I can guarantee what you will not find many, if any, who are clickers, don't you think there might be a reason for that?

You contradicted yourself. You have to turn on a dime in pvp and react, so clicking doesn't always cut it. That still applies to pve if you are trying to challenge yourself in endgame content. The faster you can react to mechanics, the better you handle them, and it results in more damage or healing overall, and keybinds simply help you do things faster

Damn my history with keybindings was something, but it's what made a really good player. I used to use like the 1-0 keys and click on buffs when I started playing WoW. After that I saw a video of someone who was switching bars so I did that too and it was a bit better, but I couldn't see the cooldowns... In the end I chose the most efficient way of doing so and bind all the keys to favor the size of my hand and fingers (which doesn't go further than 5). It's what I've learned: moving your hand across the keyboard costs time, very little time, but it changes how fast you can respond to things. Funny how I can't play games if I can't bind my keys, but there aren't many games that don't allow that.

Most important thing is this: Have awareness. How? You MUST be able to perform your DPS rotation to near perfection without having to look at your bars or on timers. This is key if you want to get good at PvP, or have any influence in a raiding guild.

I've used keybinding instinctively ever since I first logged in. When I saw a '1' on the action bar, it never occurred to me that I had to click my abilities until I got more than would fit on the normal number pad.

The last tip actually helps A LOT! If u're just being nice to WoW players u will make many friends and avoid several unnecessary conflicts. I remember among the first times I started to do the role as tank in raids (which was among my first raids whatsoever). It was so much easier to tank with tanks that could explain tactics for me instead of flaming the shit out of me for every misstake I did. Now when I have tanked a while and tried with both being an asshole and being a nice guy, I have concluded that it is ALWAYS better if everyone just could be friends. Sometimes assholes have actually turned out to be nice people after I've responded them with for example a happy smiley. :) However that's just my opinion after I've got the experience of entering the game as a tank.. (sorry for my english)

A good thing I did to start keybinding was role a new char of the same class/spec until about 15-20 and only keybind those few spells with easily accessible keys and after 20 levels you will have a few thing you can go back to your main and bind those few and then add whatever other ones you can

One other thing that TLP forgot to mention. As an RPer, mostly I will not engage in PvP or PvE. I do so casually, but that's not the point here. To become a better RPer, especially on WoW, you NEED to know your lore. Creating separate timelines and totally different stories that deviate from the timeline and events of the Warcraft universe will give you the label of 'godmodder' etc by roleplayers that have been around longer. Knowing your lore can allow you to expand your character's development and make them more unique, yet will also fit them in with the heroes of Azeroth and not some random joe. It's an important thing, especially when you're looking to become a full-time RPer. It's just not logical for you to be a Night Elf with a name after a character from The Walking Dead (as an example) and roleplay as that character. They just aren't from the same universe and it can be confusing to those you're conversing with, especially when you're interacting in character. Your RP partner's muse will have no idea what you're talking about when you start complaining about an American zombie apocalypse.

During the fights part, you forgot to mention the addon you had installed, Deadly Boss Mods. If you 'don't have the time to learn the fights then you should definitely get DBM. Not only does it tell you whats happening in the fight, it helps experienced players with knowing when an AoE or certain phase is coming. Even if your a healer it can benefit you because you'll known when the burst damage is coming. Really recommend it...

Successfully clicking is a lot easier than people think. You should still use keybinds, but as long as you're taunt, interrupt, and mob target switching are binded, you'll be fine. It'll hinder your ability to target people in your raid quite substantially, but if we're talking about performing a rotation, attacking the right target, and not failing mechanics, it is possible to do all of that almost perfectly. Is it worth it? No, just learn to keybind. I've tested the limits of clicking in the past and was able to do heroic raiding without anyone noticing and get 50+ waves in the proving grounds. It was a lot harder but it's definitely doable if your UI is set up for it.
