Beautiful. I will study your videos as a project as I am playing through some works by Albeniz now. Yes, the "cantos ida y vuelta" came from the Hispano new world back to Spain evolving. Also, to note that that in Flamencology there is a seperate "tangos" form as well and they are different in the different areas such as in Seville (i.e. Tangos de Triana) and in Granada (where it takes on an oriental flavour). I'm going to start studying Azulejos maybe next year or the one after. I hope you might think about doing a Tutorial on it.

Hello Karolina, thank you for your wonderful and informative comment! I appreciate you sharing your knowledge about Flamencology and the different kinds of tangos depending upon the regions they came from. This makes so much sense. Thank you also for your suggestion for a tutorial on Azulejos. I am interested in learning this piece hauntingly beautiful piece. It is so intriguing that Granados finished it, and we do not know exactly where in the piece his manuscript begins. I only wish Granados had been able to complete Albéniz's Navarra as well. I wish you all the best with your playing and your learning of the mysterious, gorgeous, and seldom played Azulejos. 🎵🌹

Your interpretations of Albeniz are absolutely wonderful and touching, and the way you teach is so bright and lively! Your videos are and will continue to be an important source of insight to me--likely more as a composer than as a performer. The way you describe melodic and harmonic lines makes them so graspable yet magical. I absolutely had to subscribe as soon as I saw your episode on Solfeggietto, and I'll be watching your content whenever I can. Also, as a side note, do you play any Ravel? Your Albeniz series reminded me of Ravel's Rapsodie Espagnole a bit and of the story behind his Jeux d'eau (which he wrote after being inspired by Albeniz) I would be curious to hear your ideas of some of his work!
@SallyChristianMusic

Hello Andrew, ... wow, … I am so grateful to read your articulate and exquisite comment and your gracious words about my Albéniz interpretations. Your words almost dance on the page for me! I am deeply moved to hear that the lessons are "so graspable yet magical,” and that as a composer you are also gaining insights from them. When I delve deep into a piece with the analysis and lesson, I feel a heightened kinship and awe for the mind and heart of the composer. :-) Regarding Ravel, yes, I do play much of Ravel's piano music and have made a CD of some of his pivotal works, including Jeux d'eau. It is uncanny that you should mention this piece now, as I have been seriously considering it for my next project to engrave and teach. Thank you for your timely suggestion which gives me a boost of energy and momentum! With many best wishes to you and much joy with your composing!

@SallyChristianMusic 3 жыл бұрын
Hello Reece, yes, the Winter wind is Op. 25, No. 11. This is a very demanding tour de force etude that requires great strength, conditioning, and stamina to play well. I played it years ago as part of my daily warm-up routine along with many of the other 24 Chopin Etudes. While I have quite a few Chopin pieces already in process for future video recordings, I will add your request to the queue of videos for the more distant future. :-) Best wishes to you.

I love the way you play this piece . So pretty. I do have a question though and I’m assuming that u add this accent on purpose . And i love it. But, I wonder where u have picked this up or is it something u just have added yourself. At about 1:34 , it’s sounds to me you have added a quick accent . Or maybe my sheet music just doesn’t show it . Ty for you great work

Hello sagemaster3408, thank you for your warm and enthusiastic words about this video and the playing! You are welcome, it is my pleasure. To answer your question about the "accent" around 1:34, this is the downbeat of measure 34 where Albéniz has unexpectedly modulated to F# Major. There is a diminuendo mark right after this chord, so I choose to give this beautiful F# Major chord a little emphasis so the chord will "bloom." This also gives us a moment to savor the tonality along with the molto ritard. Then I can drop the volume down to the pianissimo mark that Albéniz indicates in the next measure 35. I hope this answers your question! Best wishes to you. 🎵
