I’m sorry it’s been so long since you’ve heard from me. I must thank you for sharing this with all of us. My guess is that you may have read this quote before, but in case you haven’t... “It is not for me to build lofty places and mighty cathedrals of music, but rather cottages, in which men may dwell and rest their hearts.” - Edvard Grieg

Hello Musicalintentions /James, ... it’s so nice to hear from you again! I'm happy that you appreciated seeing this Version II Arietta tutorial. Thank you also for sharing this profound quote from Grieg. His words describe exactly what Arietta means to me. I played it many times a day during the initial 4 month period of COVID-19 lockdown, and it was a salvation for me. It was indeed a cottage to dwell in and to rest my heart.

Hello Renato, thank you for your warm and welcoming words! Due to the months of COVID 19 mandates to socially isolate, I was unable to make any new teaching videos. It was a time for learning new repertoire for me and for deep reflection. Fortunately, the waiting is over and the video recordings have resumed. I’m so happy to be back doing this work again! Thank you for your encouragement and support, and I wish you all the best!

This is a fantastic lesson. I watched the video while examining your charts. Your depth of learning, coupled with your unique perspectives, demonstrates wisdom. You got into Grieg’s brain. I am amazed by the rich patterns you found in this "simple" piece and then created multiple views to anchor our experience and learning. Thank you, Sally.

Hello Roger, I am so moved to read your comprehensive and acknowledging words about this lesson! It is a privilege and pleasure to make these videos. While they are always a labor of love, preparing the lesson and making the chart materials ultimately gives me a deeper understanding into the mind of the composer. I appreciate you saying that as a viewer you have come away with a similar experience! I’m delighted you will be working from your chart as you practice and commune with Grieg's beloved Arietta! With gratitude and very best wishes to you.
