Mare is a delicious fruit, i love them. Haven’t had any for over 30 yrs, but i still remember their distinctive delicious taste. There is another one that i dream so often of, it’s called “Mushmolla”. They look like mini small brown apples. They’re soooo good too, and should be in season rn. Have a great time and enjoy your trip in Albania. Don’t know if you guys already been in Fishta, but you should definitely visit “Mrizi in Zanave” restaurant and hotel in Fishta. PS. you have to make a reservation for the restaurant prior to arrival.

I’ve seen those arbutus strawberry trees in fancy gardens in England but never thought the fruits were edible. Love those trees, so beautiful. Will have to try the fruit!

Pretty awesome view. I've never seen fruit like that. A hand rail, or a guard rail would help. That looks pretty steep. Cheers, Steve and Michelle! ✌️

The mountain tea is the same plant as Greek mountain tea. Until 10 year's ago it was entirely wild, but people figured it out how to cultivate it. The wild tea is the best, it only grows in elevation above 1,000 meter, restricted to southern Albanian and all of Greece. It does not have caffeine like the Chinese/British tea.

@@Steve-Owens The best I ever bought was in a village near the Greek border, Strembec. Wild sage and wild oregeno from the same area are super aromatic too. Now is not the best time to drive around Albania, very stormy season.

The exact name of the fruit is koçimare, short mare en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arbutus_unedo. You should be careful when you eat that fruit because you can get drunk. In fact, some people produce a kind of raki from mare but this kind of raki can give pain on the head.

it's a toxic fruit. don't ait mor then 3 or 4 of them
@mendjelire8392Ай бұрын
They're not toxic! They are just too high in sugar, at 40%, that's why in Albania they do not eat more then 3 or 4 fruits at a time as they say you can get drunk eating them.
