Super gemacht! Toll überlegt. Und konsequent den Rhythmus durchgehalten - Wahnsinn!

is there video anywhere of how they got the corrugated sided Steyr out of its predicament in video around 45:27. Very curious.. and sad that it was not shot on video or was edited out. Viewing further I see that this truck and the Pinz were no longer in video? You leave them out there :p
@peterneuner60474 жыл бұрын
@coachgeo: the two Pinzgauers made it easily around that corner and drove ahead to survey the area. The Steyr you see in that corner, eventually made it in the night. There is a video too, but it’s too dark to see much. The rest of the group turned around, because the humanitarian aid mission was the priority and we had lost too much time there. Both groups met up the next day in Elbasan to finish the mission.

The Steyr and Mog looked like they had the best of it - well sized, big wheels and sharper turn circles. The dark brown one too (not sure what it is?). The MAN was too long for the conditions. The other's wheels were a bit small and not enough clearance. Didn't see much of the 6x 6 in the tough stuff, but it seemed like its engine wasn't up to much. The Mogs clearance made it so easy for it. I see it was used upfront a lot.
@peterneuner60474 жыл бұрын
@Mike Zog: the 6x6 Pinzgauers drove ahead on most difficult sections, they were the ones with the least problems in heavy offroad sections. Their only issue was the load capacity, but they made up for that with agility, speed and offroad capabilities.

With such high baricenter and so much tilting,softening the tyres would add to more tilting and possibly overturning.They also had good grip,not much sliding back,specialy when they put chains on.All in all well done,on my advice.

anyone know which of these Steyrs had the habitat mounted via "Captured Spring" front and solid rear mounts, or some variation of that and which ones used pivoting central mount system?
@beni120204 жыл бұрын
It´s a bit late but probably still interesting: all Steyr Trucks have solid axles front and rear except from the Pinzgauer and Haflinger, which have the same “Zentralrohrrahmen” as the Tatra trucks and independent suspension . In this Video there are two “Pinzis”, the smaller 6 wheel driven trucks, although they have been built as 4x4 as well.
@coachgeo4 жыл бұрын
@@beni12020 yep. my question is about the camper cabin sub frame not the vehicle suspension. Can understand the confusion though.
@peterneuner60474 жыл бұрын
@coachgeo: all the Steyr trucks in the video have spring-mounted subframes, except for the Unimog and the MAN Ka1, which have the original flatbed with the MAN having the shelter bolted to it. The pivoting central mount systems have more disadvantages than advantages, i.e. higher centre of gravity, less stable onroad, especially during emergenca braking from higher speeds and in corners, hardly any advantages offroad, especially with vehicles that have front lockers like the Steyr and well engineered spring-mounted frames. The higher centre of gravity of the pivoting central mount systems is also a disadvantage offroad of course. I would take the spring-mounted system again anytime!
