With eight charge holes the cylinder rotates 45 degrees between shots, versus the 60 degrees of a six-round cylinder.

They are outstanding revolvers. I`ve got one of the Performance Center 627-5s. Action is as slick as a Colt Python.

$600 is a steal considering the scarcity has allowed many dealers to get at or near full MSRP. Congrats! I would pay up to full MSRP for a new 627 Pro. Though I paid -$320 under MSRP for my 686 Performance Center 2.5" based on dealer oversight. They told me they priced it wrong after I had put down the deposit when I had gone back to pick it up, but they honored their error even after I offered to allow them to price it where they meant. Admittedly I purchase a lot of firearms, ammo and accessories from them, so they're still well in the black as far as my purchases are concerned. And they'll make this error up as I'll to give them my continued business.

Nice piece. When I got into L/E years ago our duty issue was the S&W Model 19 357 Magnum. I really like the barrel on your 627.

Don`t mind the Naysayers & Safety Police. Nice clear video! Thanks for posting. Answers a lot of questions I had about this particular gun.

For a pro series gun, the 627 comes loaded with features that are not found in most of the other pro series revolvers. I'm confident it can handle the hottest 357 loads, but a non-fluted cylinder would strengthen the cylinder even more. Changing the cylinder however might turn it into a custom gun, which the pro series is not intended to be. In any case it is a minor point that does not detract from one of the great revolvers offered by SW. Great video

It is a bit Python-esque with the angular lines. Very distinctive, I like it.

Sweet looking pistol. Love stainless on any gun. Looks great.

the hammer and trigger are hand forged they did that on the older models better than newer ones

no the trigger and the hammer cannot be polished since they are mim (metal injection molded) parts that is how they look.

Nice close ups !! I love the look and proportions of that gun !!! I've wanted a 686+ 4" for months and can't get one ??? So I'm contemplating your model or a 686+ Pro 5" ?????? My concern is frame size and fitting my hand ??? Unfortunately I can't find a Dealer to get to hold one. You say the grip is similar to your GP100 ?? 627 Pro 4" vs 686+Pro 5" ???? N frame vs L frame ???

Does the 627 feel like the old Model 27 Smith .357 which was a heavy revolver. I didn't feel much recoil with the Model 27 or at least it felt fine. Will they ever come out with the 627 with a 6 inch barrel?
@SARDOGFL Жыл бұрын
That 627 trigger and hammer are MIM. I like the Pro Series as I replace trigger, hammer, and sights anyway. Matter of fact my 986 Pro is tighter than my 929 PC.

Not sure, this is the only non "J" frame Smith I own. It did get trigger work from the factory. It pulls real close to my GP100 though. It is very smooth though.

What, no one had theirs spitting lead from day one, had to send it back to replace the cylinder, get the forcing cone re-cut because the hammer would miss the primer in complete when fired moderately fast? mine did...pft

So how does this compare to the Ruger GP100 Match Champion?
@Hilander129810 жыл бұрын
got me
@revolverden10 жыл бұрын
I'll know soon as I just bought a GP-100 Match Champion to put up against the 627 Pro I also just purchased. The loser will be sold on Gunbroker, thee winner will go to my arsenal/collection. In the event of too close to call, I'll keep them both. So far it pretty close based on my preliminary handling of each. Typically the S&W would have the superior trigger out of the box, but Ruger has stepped up their game with the M.C. Getting it to near S&W smoothness. Key work being "near". The rest of the comparison will be underway in the coming weeks in which I will do a video review showing each.

I really don't know why, I can't really explain in words, I don't know, I can't remember, I'm not sure, I think, could be, almost, maybe, it's probably, they used a drill bit well not a drill bit of course,.......lot's of solid info there. Ten minutes of research could have shored things up a bit. Sorry, but the third time you buried the muzzle in your palm/hand I just couldn't watch any longer. This is the best how not to handle a firearm video on the internet. I look forward to your future prosthetic hand videos. Thanks for showing a great pistol just the same.
