A short sight radius doesn't make the gun inherently less accurate. It just makes it more difficult to shoot accurately.

Mine was $1200. on Gun Broker two months ago and I love the 8-round capacity along with its looks and moon-clip options. Mine's easily concealable in my black Galco holster under an untucked shirt, right over my jeans watch-pocket.

I think that’s the 686+. The 686 is an L frame. This revolver is an N frame.

First off all you will be lucky to stop a bear with that gun . 357 is very watered down out of 2inch barrel might not even get 400 fps of energy with the hottest loads from that . Your cheaper 357 will be lower than that .

There have been instances where bears were stopped or killed with a 9mm pistol. One notable story involves Phil Shoemaker, an experienced Alaskan hunting and fishing guide. In 2016, while guiding clients on a salmon fishing trip near the Becharof National Wildlife Refuge in southwestern Alaska, Shoemaker encountered a charging brown bear. He managed to stop the bear with a 9mm pistol, specifically a S&W 3954, loaded with 147-grain hard cast bullets made by Buffalo Bore, designed for deep penetration. This incident is remarkable because Shoemaker and his clients walked away unharmed, and it demonstrates that while not ideal, a 9mm pistol can be effective against a bear with precise shot placement and the right ammunition​​​​. There are also reports of other instances where a 9mm pistol was used effectively against bears. For example, there have been at least three instances where grizzly bears were killed with a 9mm pistol during defensive situations. In most of these cases, multiple shots were required to stop the bear. One exceptional case involved a police officer who managed to shoot a bear out of a tree, striking its brain with the first shot. These incidents illustrate that while the 9mm is not typically recommended as a bear defense weapon, it can be effective in emergency situations, especially if it's the only weapon available and the shooter has good aim and quick reflexes​​. It's important to remember that these instances are exceptions rather than the rule. Experts generally recommend larger calibers for bear defense, such as the .44 Magnum, due to their greater stopping power. The effectiveness of a 9mm against a bear highly depends on factors like bullet type, shot placement, and the ability to fire accurately under stress. The use of specialized ammunition that can penetrate deeply, like the Buffalo Bore Heavy Outdoorsman or Underwood Extreme Penetrator, can enhance the effectiveness of a 9mm in such a critical situation. However, it's always preferable to avoid confrontations with bears and to be prepared with bear spray as a non-lethal deterrent.

They make ammunition designed for snub nose barrels now that can come close to a four inch barrels performance , anytime you carry for any reason you should always do your homework and carry the best ammunition possible for your circumstance
