I will have a few photos of Hartleys Textiles on Skipton Road Barnoldswick in 1996 when I was photographing the old post war concrete street lighting columns on the main road that were being replaced by Pendle Borough Council. I took a lot of photographs on the full length of Skipton Road both in the day time and night time. I have a photo of one the slightly ornate lighting column right next to the Hartley Textile building. It’s amazing to see how Skipton Road has changed in the 28 years or so. I also recall taking photos of the factory when it was being demolished a few years ago as well. One thing I remember about Barnoldswick in the 1990s was an old woman who used to ‘dive’ into bins looking for things. She would spring up anywhere in the town where there was a council bin. Skipton Road was one of the areas she would do her rounds of looking in bins! She’s hasn’t been seen in long time. I don’t live in Barnoldswick but I could clearly see she was a character of the town.

call me an old sceptic but when i hear "rationalise" and "increase efficiency of processes" and "new apprenticeship scheme." i just think redundancies and rehiring on less than minimum wage.

Taking on new staff??? From what country???? Poland. Taking more non english people and turning away english workers. You might want to think about english workers and not filling your pockets with money.
