Of the three Kings, I prefer this guy. Always regretted not getting to see him live. Made plans see him in my town and his show was cancelled due to health reasons. He died shortly thereafter. R.IP. A.K.

🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👏

trombone player is my professor at CU Boulder, name is Paul McKee and he just shared the story of how he got on that gig with our jazz studies program. He was working construction in Iowa over the summer between undergrad and grad school and the trombone player in Albert's band couldn't make it, so Paul's friend from high school called him and told him that they needed a bone player the day of this gig! they gave him a tenor clef book and while he was sight reading and sight transposing, the other horn players told him there were dance steps as well! Paul ended up traveling around east St. Louis, southern Illinois and such for a few months before heading to UNT for grad school
