Good drivers should not have to pay any more to cover the costs of the stupid idiots - if you cause an accident, your premiums should rise (a lot) or even your costs to repair your own car should not be covered by insurance.

In Quebec we have a no fault system, where everyone in an accident is covered just like this. And we have some of the lowest car insurance rates in the country, simply because insurance companies don't need to worry about expensive law suits and medical bills. The cost for this comes out of income tax and car registration I believe. This has massively driven down the cost of insurance. Our family owns 4 vehicles and we pay less in insurance than my cousin in Calgary who only has 2. If this is the net result Alberta is heading towards, this is good for people.

So let me get this strait! You run a red light and make a cripple and I can’t sue you, you can stick that right where the sun don’t shine. No wonder Quebec has the worst bloody drivers in the country! I have four vehicles, one of them Is brand new and is covered to hilt and I pay 550 dollars to insure it. I bet the people from Calgary are either young or have speeding tickets or lots of accident claims.

Smith is very innovative. Critical to remove the lawyers and court costs and fraud that exists... and to actually manage the autobody cost... everyone knows the insurance just pays out max & no questions which makes minor repair costs overly expensive/wasteful. Impt for blame to to result in higher fees for those drivers... & less driving until they correct their irresponsible ways

This is not "innovative", British Columbia has had it for some time. This way drivers with clean records will be paying for the asshats that don't know how to drive.

It's so easy to tell when Danielle Smith is lying. Her lips are moving.

Daniel Smith's math skills suck !! Charging good drivers more so we can payless later?? Plus she wants to take away our rights to sue??? I thought she was against taking our rights away???

This is not a "made in Alberta" policy, other provinces have already done it. And there aren't long and costly court battles. Claims are solved by insurance companies and everyone needs insurance to obtain registration. Try enforcing the laws. As someone with a clean driving record, I expect my insurance to remain low, not go up. Smith seems bent on making life harder for Albertans. I can't think of one positive since she's been in office.
