for the offside rule - well the replay - I have a counter. I don't have numbers of course and obviously you have no idea what will happen if not called, but before this rule, and the advent of technology, there were a LOT of onside plays whistled down for offside. Ever since they have brought the replay in - linesmen are now more apt to NOT call an offside when it is close. We never see how many offsides (technically) there are when the offside does not result in a goal (no reason obv) but if they get rid of that rule - you watch - games will take longer as anything that will be close will be blown down more often than not - look a the icing mistakes they make (not a lot I know but that's usually a lot more obvious - and I mean the waiving off of icing). If the rule is terminated, the game will take longer. In the 70's, the games used to last anywhere from 2h 45 minutes to over 3 hours if there were brawls because of all the stoppages in play (no delayed offside either). I like the rule - and everyone else does too when it's in their favor. And now, more than ever, the video coaches get it right so when it's challenged you know it's 99% of the time going to be called back. I don't hear you complaining about the tying goal that was waived off due to the high stick by Hagel even though they scored a very similar goal against Vcr on Sunday afternoon to break a tie - and that's what Cooper was about.

Has the rule on interference changed? There are several plays that sure seemed like interference to me that were not called tonight.
@stephenbarradell404311 сағат бұрын
They should just change the rule. If they've had the Puck in the offensive zone for more than 15 seconds You shouldn't be able to challenge for outside.

Game 28. Long post follows with base game statistics including some for the Tampa Bay Lightning. Read, don't read, up to you. These are BASE stats not detailed ones like the Cult of Hockey compiles. My comments and observations at the end. Statistics for Tampa Bay Lightning at Edmonton Oilers December 10th, 2024 Edmonton Oilers: McDavid 1 Goal Draisaitl 1 Goal (GWG), 1 Primary Assist Kulak 1 Secondary Assist Skinner 21 Saves on 22 Shots = .955 Save %age (and 2nd star of the game) Tampa Bay Lightning: Guentzel 1 Goal Kucherov 1 Primary Assist Point 1 Secondary Assist Vasilevskiy 23 Saves on 25 Shots = 0.920 Save %age (great too) Lightning Oilers Shots on Goal 22 25 Hits 14 9 Faceoffs Won 30 28 PP 0/2 0/2 Penalty Mins 4 4 Giveaways 14 (12 per NST) 16 Takeaways 4 2 Blocked Shots 10 14 (12 per NST) 3 Stars: 3-Vasilevskiy (.920 Save %age), 2-Skinner (.955 Save %age), 1-Draisaitl (1G (GWG), 1 A) Player TOI PP TOI PK TOI SOG +/- PIM Hits Blocks Giveaways Takeaways Bouchard 23:16 2:42 0:00 2 0 0 0 2 1 0 Nurse 23:15 1:16 0:57 3 1 0 2 4 2 0 Ekholm 23:15 1:13 1:19 1 0 0 0 4 3 1 Kulak 21:29 0:00 1:03 1 1 0 1 0 0 0 Emberson 13:52 0:00 1:16 1 0 0 0 0 1 0 Stecher 12;18 0:00 0:00 0 0 0 0 0 1 0 McDavid 22:03 2:48 0:00 4 1 0 0 0 0 0 Draisaitl 21:13 2:49 0:00 3 2 0 0 0 1 0 Nuge 19:05 2:46 0:31 2 2 0 0 0 0 0 Hyman 18:20 2:49 0:00 3 1 0 2 0 1 0 Henrique 14:58 1:13 0:57 1 0 0 0 1 1 1 Janmark 14:39 0:00 1:04 0 0 0 0 1 0 0 C Brown 13:18 0:00 0:58 1 -1 0 0 0 2 0 Podkolzin 13:16 0:00 0:28 0 1 0 2 0 0 0 Kapanen 12:24 0:00 0:31 1 0 0 1 1 0 0 J Skinner 11:55 1:09 0:00 0 2 0 0 1 0 0 Perry 11:03 1:13 0:00 1 0 0 0 0 1 0 Ryan 6:39 0:00 0:00 1 -1 0 1 0 0 0 Oilers Faceoff Breakdown: Won Lost Percent Henrique 10 8 55.6 Draisaitl 8 12 40.0 Ryan 5 1 83.3 McDavid 5 4 55.6 Podkolzin 0 2 0.00 Perry 0 1 0.00 Nuge 0 2 0.00 Lightning's Faceoff Breakdown: Won Lost Percent Paul 15 9 62.5 Glendening 8 6 57.1 Geekie 3 3 50.0 Point 2 4 33.3 Hagel 1 0 100.0 Guentzel 1 6 14.3 Surgery still postponed so here are some stats. Again, I can't watch the games. What follows is my opinion. Stats wise this was a very close game with little difference between the teams line by line. About the only thing is the Oilers had 3 more shots on goal than the Lightning and one of those went in (Leon shot the puck and the rebound bounced in off of a Lightning player past Vasilevskiy. The Oilers proved they can play D and they did it for over a period holding on to a 2 to 1 lead to win the game. Skinner was solid especially in the final 3 minutes when Tampa Bay pulled their goalie for the extra man attacker and Nuge took a penalty. I can't really comment beyond this. I wish I could watch games again but until my surgery I can't and that keeps getting pushed back until now it's past Christmas so I just do the best I can and hope others find the numbers interesting. KZbin has been blocking these posts a lot probably due to length. Take care all.

Nurse's play has now been mostly just excellent for 6 straight games now, and everyone is benefiting from that, no one more then Skinner. He isn't having to face 3-6 from the slot wide open man shots lately. Credit to all the D, but Nurse has been the standout, at long last! I hope it holds, because if so, he's now worth at least most of that contract. This is the best I've ever seen him play. TB is not the team they were just a few years ago, but they are sort of good. Lol, 4 clear breakaways?? I also think Stewart is best not overworked. Pickard next game?

Great to get the WIN. Nurses problems have been mental... & consistent very bad mistakes if pressure situations/choking... hopefully he can improve that? McD/Drais r the whole team. But have to love Ekman... feel bad to see Bouch skate in offside by an inch.... then Bouch doing another cross pass right to Tampa - scoring.... giving Ekh an undeserved minus. Wish mgt had just kept some of the speed guys... Holloway & Broberg.... (& a speedy winger) vs Skin/Henr/Arvid.

Connor brown, janmark its ok but perry ,skinner , henrique should not have been sign .Give little more to broberg and holloway after they sign continue to go shopping. This is why in mcdavid era oilers have no cup stupid move after stupid move from management Chiarelli holland JJ.

We could have signed Broberg and Holloway for a lot less than they signed for in St.Louis. We were offering them a slight bump above league min. Just awful asset management bynour higher ups. The fact that they didn't anticipate offer sheets is alarming. At the very least, if the money wasn't ever going to be there then trade them rather than lose them for a pittence

That was done by holland and I believe he dud it on purpose because he knew he was leaving and what better thing to do then to stiff the oiler organization and give a free ride to his best friend Doug Armstrong!…I believe it should be investigated…they were both first round picks and all we got was a second and a third for them!…should have been two firsts!
