everyone can SEE that a well executed moonwalk is cool and thanks to you I now understand WHY -- DUDE . . . if you decide to offer lectures on fluid dynamics, astrophysics or statistical analysis I'll gladly sign up; your explanation is eloquent and precise, but your public speaking skills are what's most impressive -- relaxed, natural and easy going but so POLISHED (no awkward pauses, no extraneous 'ands or 'ummms); its a pleasure to hear someone so well spoken

ha ha ha . . . just looked up your videos posted on YT and saw videos for spatial computing, vr interactivity as well as performance and dance videos - it's plain to see you're a highly developed left AND right-brained person and this accounts somewhat for your ability to present concepts in the manner that you do

To call this a brilliant presentation would be an understatement. You go beyond teaching; you are a facilitator. This comes from a guy (me) who was born and will die with both feet in the same shoe. I dance like a Neanderthal on Valium, therefore I abhor the dancing scene. I never went for the girl who dances like a breeze; I went for the one who likes movies. I don't care. But seeing you explaining & describing, making it looks easy and logical to understand, well, Albert, all I can say is: YOU, YOU (as Robert De Niro says it to Billy Crystal on Analyze This) Keep on sharing, please.

Thank you so much, Albert! I knew how to do this for approximately 15 minutes back in 1984 . I was in the Navy at the time. I'm a few years older, now, and suddenly need to learn this again (I don't think we can term this "mid-life crisis" stuff at my age-- 64. ) Always enjoyed dancing, and even now I'm still very energetic when I dance. Thirty-something women ask me to dance, sometimes (well, used to, before Covid-19). Perhaps now I can reconnect with those 15 minutes! Again, thank you, Albert-- you broke this down perfectly. (I might catch on in a month or two-- or hopefully by the time the Covid has passed or been defeated). I've probably got lots of time to practice, but I certainly see some fun in the future!

🙏🏿 🔮 That you went into all the details saved my soul. I can do the dances by my favorite artist by watching them over and over until they’re in my subconscious and then just dancing with the music. I used to be able to do the moonwalk until I was diagnosed with MS..I think knowing truly messed with my progress. Was afraid to look it up and then here you have this overly detailed video.. Others with my issues or worse won’t tell you dude but just know that even they don’t like it subscribe, you’re helping more than you realize. It’s hard for those with sudden or any disabilities to even admit to themselves that they have an issue to their friends l, family, coworkers. Anyway thanks for posting 😊
@mostguitarswins5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the detailed explanation. I've been practicing for a while and what I find hard is supporting the weight of my body on the ball of the foot. Walking normally the weight is spread across the whole foot which also makes it easier to balance. I think shoes make a difference too, specifically how wide and stiff the soles are.

I have always wanted to know how it worked. MJ just made it look so effortless! And while I instinctively knew it was about transferring weight onto the wrong foot, it still didn’t make any sense to me. This video was totally awesome for that! But not only just understanding the Moonwalk, but also understanding how and why we walk naturally, plus the assumptions we make observing the action. Once we’ve learned a skill, like walking, we take it for granted and rarely take the time to fully understand the action after it’s been assimilated. Great video! Thanks!

@grammyrosethompson6505 жыл бұрын
Very helpful and thorough! I never realized so much was going into everyday walking. I think artists of all disciplines have a vigilance about seeing things more profoundly. And as we have always heard to get great at anything takes tremendous amounts of practice. I have a daughter who draws and paints, she has taught me so much about how artists are seeing the world with a more detailed focus and then practicing over and over regarding what the focus is on...this seems to be true with drawing, painting, writing, danciing playing musical instrument, singing or whatever your creative love tends to gravitate toward. Thanks for sharing!

The cancer SLOWLY went from his balls(Testes) to his stomach(tummy), then liver then hoped a ride to his breasts(yes men get it too) then lymph nodes(arm pit region) and finally stage IV-A cancer of the brain(the section that he needed to keep living) diagnosed in 1996. His ashes(after his body was cremated) were ejected into space by a Uganda satellite in 2002. He was a great man.

Good tutorial and i'm glad someone from your generation finally understands that real breakdance is mainly about vusal effects, and not this distorted form that is just ground gymnastics nowadays... But if i may add a little input to prefect your move, there is a little thing that you do wrong. Watch you video and notice how you are bending the knee of the leg going backward. You should be carefull to keep your leg straight until you are finished going back and ready to lift your heel. And only then you bend your knee. Also you forgot to mention a common mistake. Human naturally lean forward when they walk. So you have to take this into account also and lean slightly forward (it helps with balance also since the supporting leg is in front). Finally, for the extra little touch, when you lift your heel off the ground, before starting to bring your front leg backward, to have a perfect illusion, put your foot straight, putting all your weight on the tip of your toes (I should say on your shoes but you got the idea; like a ballet dancer). Because in real life when you walk, the foot you are bringing forward travels straight, not with the toes upward...

Haha when MJ said it’s just push. I instantly got it :p But you break it down to details. It’s more scientific now

This is a good demonstration, because it demonstrates the mechanics of walking, and highlights the most common mistake in the people trying to moonwalk, that of a person dragging the foot with the heel off the ground (dragging the foot with the toes and ball of the foot)...which isn’t the dance move at all. The actual moonwalk move requires much more strength, since you are dragging a flat foot across the ground. It requires a lot of leg strength and coordination. I learned to do it, but since I don’t do it regularly, it’s not an easy thing to do for long.
