That grass looks so nice to dive on. Over here in the UK, its all torn up with super dry mud which just eats through your skin...
@jrichmm227510 жыл бұрын
Where I play football in my street all the grass has been pulled out the ground because we always play on the same piece of grass
@ARSGoalkeeping10 жыл бұрын
It's okay, the real pain is the ground. our pitch is level and that grass is normal florida grass it's very long and weed like. so it makes bounces really weird and so on. Plus the field is COVERED in ant hills. nothing worse than getting fire ants in your gloves. But I'm happy to be training anywhere really! Hope your turfs improve
@Jakeydavee10 жыл бұрын
My local field is relatively flat, occasionally you get those killer bounces which really annoy me. As a goalkeeper, I'm so used to diving on wet/muddy ground and when the summer comes around every year I begin to struggle again xD Here in the UK, 10/12 months consist of wet weather so it's kinda okay
@jrichmm227510 жыл бұрын

Zack Ashby thanks, im a 13 year old girl and im scared to dive high and dive on my weak side (left) but I keep trying to tell myself to just do it. Even tho I still can't get myself to do it, I will ever do it. Your comment motivated me, that's why I said "thanks." Unlike the guys being like: "you suck, you're never gonna be a good goalkeeper !! Hahahah!!!!" Btw, ive seen girls play football (or soccer) irl life, but ive never seen a girl goalkeeping irl life (only on yt and tv). I guess it's kinda rare then.... everyone just goes for skillmoves and scoring and stuff, nah..... I like saving my team more. Guys let's be honest, goalkeepers are REALLY REALLY important in football, and then they gonna hate on you because you didnt catch the ball... Do it yourself then. Stupid strikers lol. I just wanna say I have a long way to go to follow my dream, I'm not playing in a club but I just wanna be a pro and catch every ball so my friends get angry and run away and.. no that was weird bye XD.

You have helped me ALOT in the past, i started playing two years up from my age but didn't play last year due to injury but the one problem i've always had was my weakside diving, my right side has always been really sharp but as soon as i go for left i just twist in the air to land on my right. I really hope this helps ! (:

@jimmymaskell413110 жыл бұрын
I have exact the same problem mate. Exact the same
@HoldFastGoalkeeping9 жыл бұрын
Connor Scott One thing you can do first is, get your left arm more coordinated. Your hands and arms move first before you dive, so you need to build response in your left hand. Playing basketball will help, or you can take a tennis ball and throw and catch only with one hand. Start throwing it soft, then harder and harder. After you get comfortable with that, throw the tennis ball low on the wall and get your body to react with your left side only.
@sixangrygoons9 жыл бұрын
i've been doing this for a while now and the coordination in just my left side of my body has grown immensely, this also helped with improving my diving technique overall. thank you very much

Especially this video because it's just a simple drill that can get me diving and has slightly improved me but with lack of grass areas to practice on I cannot always practice or have people to practice with so when it comes to a game I lose all confidence.

I think it is also do with footwork and balance drills as well. If your work on your legs and like with weighted squats, lunges and jumping exercises this will improve your diving and other key areas as well and then you won't have a weak side, but at the end of the day the main thing is practice, If you just put in the hardwork in everyday you won't even think about it, it will just all click into place.

It's funny because when I think before I have to dive to my weak side (left) it hurts when I land maybe because I am a little scared of it and because of that mental block. But when I just don't think about it and just go for it, it doesn't hurt when I land because I land better when I am not overthinking it because I am so concentrated on the ball. But I want to not be scared and remove that mental block. I hope this helps, and a good job as always ARS Goalkeeping.

Can dive perfectly on my right side, even to top corners. Just about starting to do it on my left, have done it once or twice whilst playing but it's still annoying as sometimes my mates deliberately hit the ball to my weak side; I still get apprehensive basically.
@iamjdx8 жыл бұрын
Hey I hope this helps. My right side dive used to be a lot weaker, than my dive to my left. A really good drill to help this is to stand on the side of the goal that your dive is the strongest, get your friend to stand in front of the opposite post, about 12 yards out, tell him to call that he's shooting, when he does this, you move across the goal, when you get to the middle, he will under arm throw the ball towards the post he's facing, you have to dive and save the ball, making sure your dive is correct trying to use your leg to soften the landing. Doing this over and over will train your muscle memory and will make you less scared of hurting yourself/ more natural to dive to that side. I hope this helps you.

Hey! Check out my how to dive without hurting yourself video. Although you can't do much about hard ground the best thing to do is to land on your side or your lateral muscles. They protect your body and it's away from all your vital squishy insides. thanks for watching and for the nice comment!

I've never actually played, but I love diving when I'm in goal

Great video. I find that teaching young players (similar to the kids in this video) comes with the burden of teaching them how to get over the fear of diving. great video showing how to break it in to steps for them.

Hi my name is juan and I wanted to know how can I dive to the right side, if my power leg is not strong enough? I would hope to get advice on what kind of footwork I would need to learn to catch and jump to the right side. (My right leg is a prosthetic leg and it is not strong enough to push my whole body towards the dive) Thanks and hope I can get a answer.

juan galvan i know this is very late but i would say keep practicing and eventually your right will be just as good as your left or even better!
