Awesome video and incredible action! I am taking my daughter to look at the University of Miami in a couple weeks and have an evening for some DIY bonefishing. I have been doing a bit of research and thinking about the area near Crandon Park. Any additional trips you could share would be much appreciated and thanks in advance!

I'd suggest bringing different types of flies, light, small and heavier, bigger so you can adapt to the conditions on the day you get out there. I caught fish in different locations and can't say that one is better than the other. Tight lines and let me know how you do.

i love bonefish fishing ... only 12 min drive to get to my fishing place here in socal and yes we have bone fish here all year round cortez sizes mostly 12 to 15 inch but ive caught one 21 inch ...super fun on a ultra light 6wt/7wt and ultra light spinning reel 1000/2000 size set up...
@SergioDiazFishing10 ай бұрын
Socal as in Southern California? That's so cool dude, I've seen pictures of bonefish in the Sea of Cortez and the San Diego area, but I thought they were flukes and not something you could consistently target. Awesome!
@thatonebeone10 ай бұрын
san diego back bay flats, can see them tailing but they are very spooky but they are use to boats passing them under 10 to 15 to 20 foot but they will still spook away and mostly blind cast and very tricky to sight cast them thats why i use a inflatable boat with a trolling motor to get them.. and we have some good size halibuts up to over 40+ inchs..fun on the fly but if you hook up on a monster on 6wt/7wt you'll be in trouble fighting it but they dont run away they just go back the bottom and you mostly need a bigger set up rod with back bone to yank them off the bottom @@SergioDiazFishing

@@thatonebeone that sounds awesome, who knew! I was in San Diego for a week long conference and I spoke to a fishing guide I wanted to book, he never mentioned bonefish. Next time you visit NY let me know and we'll go fishing 🤙

Awesome man. Bay side or ocean side? Any tips on tides?
@SergioDiazFishing10 ай бұрын
I fished both, but feel like ocean side was more productive at least for me and I prefer incoming tide, have your coffee well before so that you are ready to start looking for fish at the bottom. 😎

How are you working your flies? Big bumps or gentle taps?
@SergioDiazFishing10 ай бұрын
Hey Tom, it depends on the fly, a small shrimp pattern I'll do very short, erratic strips and rod tip down to keep it from getting to high from the bottom. A crab fly which is heaver I'll make slow longer strips to imitate a crab moving along the bottom.

Nice video. If you don't mind me asking. About how much did this cost?
@SergioDiazFishing10 ай бұрын
That's a good question. My expenses included airfare, hotel, transportation, and food. The total cost depends on the deals you can get for flights and hotels. I'd estimate I spent around $1,200, including food. But I might not have accounted for the cost of beers 😆
@markkowaleski463310 ай бұрын
That's really not too bad. You could also look into air bnb.
