I've been using the American Sound in my pedalboard for a few months now. I go direct to mixer. Put a Boss Overdrive/Distortion pedal in front of it. Does everything I need it to. It replaced a Strymon Iridium (at almost 10x the price).

On the clean sound, I like the ACtone it's got more character. On the crunch tone, I like the British sound. And on the lead tone, I like the American sound because its got more bite or grit plus the tone is beautiful. Bought a Harley Benton American Sound by the way and Im loving it. Thanks for this comparison video.

The orange 🍊 is the best Joyo pedal, just don't crank them up much as you correctly said in this great video.

Very nice demonstration - but - I was looking forward to really cranking the gain - which is where a couple of them start to really shine, so long as you adjust the 'voice' correctly with the gain. It takes a bit of playing around, but there are some really good sounds there.

Thanks for the comment Hayt. I've made individual videos on each one of these pedals and there I play more with the gain and all settings as I could spend more time on each pedal. However, I don't really like their cranked sounds very much. I find the cleans to a light crunch are more to my taste and fit my playing style better

Fascinating! I'm enjoying using an Amplug2 Clean model into a powered speaker... but I'd like a bit more control over the sound - so I'm considering one of these pedals. I'm probably inclined towards the American version for pop and country... and the ACTone for the blues - and either for jazz; it's great to have choices!

Had the American now for few weeks and my British just arrived yesterday, so far very happy with the American into my Blackstar amp and will be testing out the British tomorrow too. Considering a combo of each together either through line out or front input or one in both…basically I’m just looking to make a lot of noisy but beautiful tones while my guitar gently weeps 😂 great video and thanks, loved your playing and personal vibe. Between the Actone and California, which would you suggest for a hint of grit but a mellow clean crunch?

Thanks for the nice message 👍 I haven't tried the California yet, but the AC Tone is great for those Vox AC style sounds. It does nice jangly cleans and bright low to medium gain drives really well. I wouldn't call it mellow though. I also have a video on it if you want to check it out. It's also a great pedal but tbh it's my least favorite among these 3

@@TheBedroomRocker1 Ah thankyou I appreciate the reply, and likewise I wasn’t too sure I liked the overall feel of the AC but will further look into it. And I mean mellow as in got a nice chime and ring to it but without too much breakup and grrr 😁 I’m definitely more strayed towards the California but shall look again into each…btw, British/American is fantastic along with a Boss Ds-1 and bit of a knob fiddle!! I sat for about an hour in a wall of noise and LOVED it, so very pleased. Shall consider the others and value your input…ps, on looking back I meant to say fx loop not line out on amp ha. Peace in the now and happy noise making my friends

@@TheBedroomRocker1 just now watched your video on AC Tone and completely see now what you were saying in your reply. Definitely has a nice jangle to it at about 25% drive, liking how it sounded. But agreed, it loses some of its shape without the digital simulation! Will certainly have to experiment with using in the fx loop, but looking like I’m gonna get an Ac/Cali and Oxford and play around with what mix feels most fitting to myself. Good comparison. Thank you. Is tha cab sim always on? In your opinion is it a problem to add an i.r. after the pedal so adding a amp sim over a cab sim? Thankx in advance!!

Thanks for the comment. The cab sim is indeed always no and no chance to turn it off (there are some mods for that though). There are no big problems in adding an IR after the pedals though. In fact, I do this in another video. I thought it sounded pretty good kzbin.info/www/bejne/a4m0XoJjnZidi6M

Good video, by the way I want to add it to my pedalboard, where should I put it? I have in this order: equalizer, compressor, overdrive, dist, noise Gate, chorus, tremolo, flanger, and delay. Where should I put it? Thanks

Thanks for the comment! I would start by putting it between the chorus and the noise gate. However, the best way is for you to experiment and see what works out the best

one thing that i just recently found out about this amp sim...they also have a built in cabsim...just like you've said..but is it good to add IR in it? if it has already a cabsim in it? is it going to be redundant or are you logically putting 2 speakers in chain...how's it going to work with IR's? - i'm thinking of doing the mod - cabsim bypass - but i don't really want to de-solder one of the resistor and end up messing it badly...

The so-called Cab Sim is just a high-pass filter (EQ shaping at best) Adding an Impulse Response has no detrimental effect

They have an analog cab sim. It's decent, but not great. The cab sim is also always on and cannot be switched off. I usually like to add an impulse response cabinet simulation after these pedals

Thanks for the comment. This series of pedals are the exact same with different branding (Joyo / Harley Benton) in the enclosure. It's like those Amazon products made in China (you can find the same product from the same factory under many different brands). However, both brands also offer different pedal lines that are not related to each other.

Are Harley Benton products made from China? Germany? London? What about JOYO products?

Thanks for the comment. Harley Benton is an umbrella brand from music shop Thomann. Their products are manufactured in several locations (mostly China and Vietnam) and sold under Harley Benton brand. Joyo is a Chinese brand and, in the case of these 3 pedals, they are the same Harley Benton pedals but with a different branding.

Both of these brands sell the exact same pedals. If you're in North America, chances are that you'll find them under Joyo brand. Here in Europe, we have them most as Harley Benton like mine. But as I said, they're the same pedal coming from the same Chinese factory

Ciao, thanks for the comment. It's of course the same guitar and the same player but there's still a substantial difference between the 3 pedals. Maybe try listening with a good set headphones or studio monitors.
