This album shakes you to the core. It’s not a ‘in the car’ or casual listen. You have to be in the right place and with enough time to completely dive in and it will take you to places you shouldn’t ever want to go but somehow you do. If you have a similar mindset to Ian as I often do it makes so much sense. I never know whether this album helps or adds to the misery when you’re down but it absolutely has a massive effect on you. Recommend listening to the last song he recorded before his death (unreleased although New Order later did). It’s called In a Lonely Place and it might be even more haunting than the music here. He literally lays out his mindset and basically tells you what he’s about to do. Almost unbearable but somehow majestic

Great reaction Jack. Joy Division was unique in that they did not put their radio singles on their albums. Instead, they were all released separately. Their record label finally put all of them together (including B sides) on the 1988 compilation called Joy Division Substance album. Some of their best songs are non-album singles and are definitely worth a listen. New Order's first album Movement is closer to Joy Division's sound, but they eventually found their own sound that was more influenced by dance music. To me, New Order is something you may want to listen to as well.

What's incredibly sad is that Ian wrote all the lyrics and it is so clear that he was giving up, he gave signs through his lyrics I mean I see this album as a suicide note, and the band members didn't pay attention to the words, they said they thought they were "just lyrics" ... Twenty Four Hours is especially chilling "gotta find my destiny, before it gets too late"... I mean what more does someone need?

I told you it was better than UP! Both of them are fantastic but Closer just edges it, especially from Heart & Soul onwards. Perfection. RIP Ian 🖤

Also don't know if you know but there is a movie called Control released in 2007 it talks about Ian and the band and it's great you should watch it if you're interested, the actor did a great job playing Ian, maybe you could even do a reaction to it but maybe copyright won't allow it but if you watch it it would be nice to know your thoughts on it

I'm gonna suggest two songs: "The Moss" by cosmo sheldrake. Really good, excited to see your reaction. "Shiny is the view" by cosmo sheldrake. Really good aswell.

and then what will be? superfluous reactions of reactions about reactions to reactions for reactions and so, and so, till enjoying music is no longer the point but these futile exercises of pointing the obvious to inflate the ego? 🤦♂🤦♂back in the day these "reactions" were made in intimacy, in silence, you didn't care to share it (much less with all the www) Because your opinions didn't mattered to anyone but yourself. That forged character, everything was genuine. This is beyond pathetic, this is mere misery. *Pd: please hate me, this ain't a favor, this is not counseling. And You don't like what I say, OK?* ....phewwwwww!!

@I do the 6 minutes gag almost every time I see a song that’s six minutes… Also, I loved each song on the album, and most of them (with the exception of Isolation) were at least 3+ minutes.
