Holy shiiiiiit I cannot wait for side 2! I consider myself an absolutely huge music nerd, and the live version of 'In The Air' is legitimately most likely my favourite song of all time. Awesome vid man, cannot wait to hear what you think.

I’m a huge Fishmans fan. As such I’m the first to admit that their expression is so diverse, you’d be pushed to find a fan that loves ALL of it equally. I watched your First Reactions to this album with interest, knowing full well that many of the tracks are an acquired taste... I was tremendously impressed with the fairness you gave each track, and the objectivity of your comments. I wasn’t able to do that on my first listen to this band. My First Reaction was “Awful”. My switch from “Awful” to “Awesome” took a long time. ‘Nuff respekt to you! Two of your comments are particularly noteworthy: “That bass...!” Of all the instrumentation going on, you choose to mention the bass. Yes, I agree totally; it’s simply outstanding. “It’s not music that you actively listen to. It just puts you somewhere.” In my Fishmans experience, there are those tracks that are probably best left ignored, in order to protect your sanity. However when you find those tracks that you WANT to actively listen to, they don’t just put you somewhere, they pull you in and keep you trapped inside forever... An amazing band. Full marks to you for giving them a fair listen, despite the significant challenges to do so, and for keeping your assessment objective and respectful.

great album but not as good as those two. I’d actually put Everything Everything by Underworld above Alive 2007 right now tbh.

Wow, it's just really interesting seeing this kind of video on youtube, because I've been listening to the Fishmans for a while now, and rarely see videos like this, because they're just not all that popular in the US, when compared to how popular they were in Japan.

YAY ABOUT TIME! But yeah i do get why you don't "love" the first side. I was also kind of turned off by the more reggae side of Fishmans but i gave the songs more listens (Unreliable Angel and Houkoki in particular) and the amount of melodic texture and overall detail in these songs astound me. The only song i can't say i'm 100% aboard on in the first side is A Happy Person. Look forward to side 2 man! It's some of the best music you will ever hear.

Yes, this. The first side grows on you exponentially, I guarantee you'll end up loving it with more time.

Listen to more of their album songs before you listen to their live music. It becomes easier to appreciate that way.

Don’t know if you do hip hop but you should react to JPEGMAFIA’s Veteran album. Experimental hip hop at its best. He did all the production, mixing and mastering along with the rapping. Either that or Danny Brown’s Atrocity Exhibition produces by Paul White.
