ALBUM REACTION: JUNG KOOK - Golden

You really do need to check out a few of JK's singles since he chose the songs for this album but did not write them. However, if you check out Still with you, My you, My time, and Stay alive, you will see that he is a brilliant song writer. However, he said in a live that he really can only write songs for army and doesn't have the desire now to write about other things so he will take advantage of other writers for that. He also wrote a song Never Let Go for army that dropped for their anniversary FESTA last week. His vocals and writing are fantastic. The hook is long and he apologized to army for that as he meant to release a performance video with a dance break in those sections but ran out of time. Being a perfectionist he of course was stressed about it. But there are some pretty beautiful vocals in that song. If you ever listen to BTS magic shop and your eyes tell songs, he was a strong contributor to those songs as well. I also highly recommend his cover of Falling (original Harry styles song)

It’s meant to be the life cycle of a relationship - falling in love, on the rocks, heartbreak, putting yourself back together and letting go… to start all over again ;) If you can, you should check out this live performances for iheartradio and audacy. I love the way you describe the song and his voice in the most respectful way , good to hear your review! my personal favorite (recently) is somebody and shot glass of tears. the best album of 2023 that I still listening to. I totally agree with you saying "mainstream pop" thing, I like his choice of song every gp can relate and enjoy, and still manage to challenge all the different genre. I believe his voice can manage every genre of music so I'm glad he's willing to try and discover new things. He really loves music and I think thats his real talent as a singer

I can't wait for you to hear "D-Day" and "Layover". Also... JIN just got released from the Military and hopefully we'll have a full album from him yet this year. :) Jin released "The Astronaut" before he enlisted, but a few others of his more recent solos are "Abyss" (he wrote this after the insane success of Dynamite when he was feeling overwhelmed) and "Yours" (which is an OST for the drama Jirisan).

Loved your review. You not only dissected the music but also tried to gain some insight into the emotions running in the background of these songs. While they were all written by other people, JK seemingly chose them for a reason, even if we can only speculate what it is.

Next time, I'd like to ask for a review of another BTS rapper, Suga (aka AGUST D)'s D-2 album. You'll find that listening to it will introduce you to music you definitely won't regret!!!! 72 year old BTS Army here. Grammy winner producer/songwriter Andrew Watt and Cirkut, a Canadian songwriter/producer, recorded this album in Watt's studio in L.A. Cool that you know of John Bellion too. They led the "Seven Feat. Latto" and "Standing Next to You" team. Shawn Mendes co-wrote "Hate You" and Ed Sheeran co-wrote "Yes or No". Heavy hitters for sure. This All American production was definitely a great call by Jung Kook in order for him to be the giant pop star he stated he wanted to be. If you are not familiar with Watt and Cirkut, I recommend looking them up. There is also a behind the Scenes video of when they recorded "Seven Feat. Latto" in Watt's studio which is fun to watch. It's also cool that you are familiar with Jon Bellion. There is a fantastic video of S. Korea's Masked Singer that 19 or 20 year old Jung Kook competed on in order to promote BTS. He sings two songs. One is with a female competitor and another amazing song , the actual competition song, by Big Bang titled "If You". Definitely worth a watch! Thanks for another great reaction! 💜

Thank you for such a positive and enjoyable reaction. “Golden” is JK’s first and only solo album. He has just released a fan song called “Never Let Go” in the house genre. There was meant to be an mv to go with it but he ran out of time because of military enlistment. Another reactor said he does something very clever in the chorus, I wonder if you can see it too? There’s an official lyric video for it on Bangtantv (BTS’ official channel). JK wrote a beautiful song called “Still With You” that you’ll probably like too. No official video only live performances or audio.

This is his only solo full ep. He has solo songs that he wrote for the fans, that stand alone and some others are on BTS albums. Still With You is definitely worth you, checking out. I think Jk’s GOLDEN album is a true gem. Listening to Jk’s voice is a pleasure, it’s pure soul. Jungkook performed on iHeart Radio and his live voice sounds even better. I have no doubt that Jk is the pop superstar of this generation. It’s a shame that he had to stop his successful solo career.
