Great engineering on both albums. Crystal clear sound, without being too clean and sterile. The sound of the drums! And guitars too, on these two albums! Awesome. I even like the "corny" songs, "Cherry Oh Baby" and "Indian Girl", just for the sound. (Having said that, I also like the more dense, "muddy" sound of "Exile". Love most everything by the Stones...). But, Black and Blue is my favourite of these two albums too. And agree it's underrated.

Thanks, Peter! I agree. While I think Emotional Rescue has some amazing high points: Title track, She's So Cold and Dance Pt. 1, there is a lot more filler or should I say pleasant toss offs. While Black & Blue is just a more solid and cohesive listen. Emotional Rescue feels like a leftovers album with a couple of new tracks they worked hard on. Melody is one of those songs that does feel underwritten, but even still, there is something about the groove and Jagger's delivery that makes me enjoy it. Dance Pt. 1 though might be a top 20 song for me.

Hi Peter, I would just give it to Black and Blue, however I can't stand Melody. Dance Pt 1 and She's so Cold are the two highlights from Emotional Rescue for me

Great minds think alike lol. Yes, Black And Blue is just stronger I feel. Melody is quite odd and feels a little out of place. Thanks Richard.

Side 1 of Black and Blue was great, Side 2 was two crappy songs and two gems Fool and Crazy. Emotional Rescue is amazing.
