A few other interesting ones to check out… Great American Ghost - Tragedy of the Commons (viscous and melodic metallic hardcore) The Ferryman - Iron Will (tremendously performed Melodic Power Metal) Axetasy - Withering Tides (thrash King Diamond/Mercyful Fat) Next one isn’t metal but Everyone Says Hi self titled. Just beautiful poppy alternative music that blends Father John Misty with The Beatles and a splash of early Killers.

Surprise of the century for me is that "Grave Digger is still Grave Digger". Thought sure album number 22 would be the one to break all the molds. All kidding aside, when I want some crunchy no nonsense classic power metal, Grave Digger is there for me, and I can't fault them for doing it well.

The best album I listened to for January was easily the debut (I think?) from Uulliata Digir. I only heard about them from No Clean Singing, but holy shit. I don't even know how to describe it, but if you like your Death Metal weird, avant garde, a little Blackened, some trumpets, etc. I think you'd dig this one, Robert.

I mean, in the discord I did say it took like 20 minutes into the Mirar album to start liking it in my reaction vid lmfao. And actually I only did it because I wanted to hear how it would MAYBE improve from the last ep in 2024 since I didn't like that release. One of my favorite things about the album is how they use the guitar noises as chord progressions, there's a certain baroque/early renaissance classical music type flow to the melodies that I really like. And also yeah it's overproduced to shit and the drums are literally a dubstep kit 😂 But yeah I see where you come from, personally it speaks to me on a really cool idea type of level since I also make weird shit and combine it with modern metal. Also Jesus Christ, Grave Digger is still a thing

While I am disappointed to hear you didn't enjoy Mirar ("Ascension" and Ethel Cain's "Perverts" are my favorite albums of the year, thus far), the line about it being engineered for content creators to bust over made me crack up, that was hilarious. Otherwise, I echo your thoughts on The Great Old Ones, Onirophagus, and Hierarchy. I genuinely enjoyed The Great Old Ones, Mutagenic Host, Confess and Onirophagus. I gave Hierarchy a chance (digital cost $1), but it just sounded like noise that swallowed any moments of potential. I know one album you forgot! Slaves of the Inhuman Future World by Unreal Overflows. I will keep plugging that all day LOL. I feel it would have been a better listening experience than Tokyo Blade, Gravedigger, Drown in Sulphur or Hierarchy!
