@haydendutton69165 жыл бұрын
That album is yet another prime example of how mainstream music is completely self-destructing in terms of quality. I didn’t always used to hate the mainstream but these past four years it has taken a severe nosedive across the board for all of its genres. Cardi B winning a Grammy as well for it just further showed how dumbed down and pathetic those awards shows are and have become because nobody in their right mind would’ve ever granted her an award when there were countless and I do mean, countless other deserving artists who weren’t even nominated who put in everything they had, their blood, sweat and tears to make Albums that were downright incredible only to not even be acknowledged because the mainstream want to push agendas as well as completely disregard a multitude of genres and artists because they don’t “fit” their own mass appeal. It’s a music awards show, objectively you should have critics and people who are going to play equal and actually represent all music as well as all artists and highlight music irrespective of genre or appeal that are true examples of making music that is powerful, breathtaking, pushes boundaries, pushes songwriting, creativity, expression and lyricism and actually defines music rather than be a minor footnote that people will move on and forget a year later after the “next biggest thing” takes over.
@haydendutton69165 жыл бұрын
Not only that but Cardi B herself is problematic both as an artist and as a person. As an artist she’s simply a copy/paste of Nicki Minaj with an added flavour of “feminism” to make a shallow attempt at appeasing critics and the masses that she means something and is a positive role model despite making the same music that most female rap-pop artists have done for years and years now, it’s still the same, still empty and still trash. Secondly Cardi B as a person should be, by all means of this “MeToo” generation, locked up. She’s a proven criminal and abuser, she literally drugged and robbed men, a few have come forward that she raped them while they were under (one of them found a used condom in their room alongside having their stuff stolen.) As much as people try to play her up as some kind of icon, she is the worst type of person to even be an icon and most of her behaviour and record should be questioned because if it was a guy, their whole career would’ve been destroyed as is the case with so many in 2019. If we’re going to play those cards, she should get persecuted for that but because the victims were male, everyone allowed that to slide. That teaches young women so many wrong things, it’s disgusting. Cardi B herself is just a talentless skank who is churned out on the same assembly line to make singles with mass appeal, that are catchy so people listen to them over and over until they are sick of them and they forget them. Her music is weak, heck at least Nicki Minaj tried to add some form of substance in her PinkPrint era, I guess by those standards she should be drowning in Grammy Awards over that. *Sighs* Sometimes I get brain aneurysm’s wondering how we even got to this level.

I had never heard of them before so I didn't think anything of it, but the singer was practically fondling himself on stage, screaming things like "I have a boner" while the audience was filled with young girls. Others who were waiting for yellowcard with us were are also disgusted and started screaming "get off the stage" to him. Your choice to not listen to Chinese Democracy is like my choosing not to watch Season 9 of Scrubs. Some things just ended well the first time around and don't need to be brought back for a revival. What's hilarious about Angelic 2 the Core is that no way in hell am I going to listen to that monstrosity, but I watched all 40+ minutes of theneedledrop eviscerating that album, and then later listened to the "Why I Hate This Album" podcast, which spent well over an hour making fun of it. I first listened to Limp Bizkit as a kid and thought it was the coolest shit. Then I hit the puberty and didn't touch the band with a ten foot stick. Only 10+ years later I stumbled to their newer album and gave it a listen. It finally hit me that these guys can't possibly be serious. Their image is the most obnoxious possible on purpose. Once I got past that I actually liked what I heard. It's just some (very) stupid fun. Instrumentals are actually really good, the vibe and tone of their songs is pretty interesting and they do have some catchy stuff. If you don't believe that Limp Bizkit is just a joke, check out the band Black Light Burns. It's another band by Wes Borland (the guitarist of LB and the guy who has drawn their hideous album covers) and it kinda shows what he's capable with a bit more serious mindset. I follow your content religiously. I learn a lot about music I know and music I never heard of. I have to admit I did sort of rage click the title because I saw Axl in the thumb. Guns was the reason I started listening to music in 1993 when I was 8. I feel like until Democracy was released that Guns were comparable to that one sports team people support but have no hope that they ever do anything spectacular that would bring them back to their glory days. As I clicked the video and waited for the ads to stop I did say out loud "ya know, he is probably going to make reference to Democracy, and I don't disagree". I did buy it when it came out because I will support any project they put out. I did listen to it......once. It has been shelved ever since. I didn't hate it but I wouldn't actively seek to listen to it again. Thanks for all you do with giving your views on current and past music. I will always remain a fan.

I like Death Metal, so I don't agree with not listening to that personally but other than that, this is spot on! I don't really like this whole trap rap thing but scarlxrd and ghostmane are actually good and I enjoy their music a lot! Also, I've recently been listening to a lot of Papa Roach but whenever a song from "Who do you trust?" came on, I skipped immediately. I just can't listen to that, I really don't enjoy the music on this record, but like most of the other records and songs.

Yeah, Im a bit older and can confirm, when chocolate starfish dropped, that is where things started to go wrong in music in many ways. Not all of it, but a LARGE portion went south real fast.

I like it too, but wonder if i heard it for the first time this year, whether my opinion would be the same? Nu metal was definitely a music fad that i look back on with nostalgia.

Any metalcore album? So the first four BMTH albums lol. Still the first two suck cock
@WinterReflections5 жыл бұрын
1. There IS good music with metalcore influences out there. A lot of metalcore sucks and is generic, but if you think no good metalcore exists you're just being ignorant and stubborn. 2. There is no genre called screamo. I personally listen to only a few bands with screamed vocals, and not very frequently. I am predominantly a listener of subgenres of hip-hop, alternative rock, and progressive rock these days, but I have listened to a LOT of different music, and MOST genres and subgenres have some good music to offer if you have an open mind.

I’ve listened to Chinese Democracy and it’s not anyway near of a train wreck of an album that I thought it would be. I have to give props to them for adapting their music to fit the current time period, even if it’s not on the level of their earlier work. Also there’s some really underrated songs on here, Better, Chinese Democracy, This I Love, Prostitute are my favourites. It’s a shame Axl was the only original member left but he’s still quite decent for a man in his mid 40s.

Chinese Democracy holds my favourite Guns N Roses song "Prostitute" which feels like a direct continuation of the Del James saga (Don't Cry, November Rain, Estranged, Don't Cry Alternate Lyrics). As well as amazing tracks such as Street of Dreams, IRS, and the mighty Madagascar. It's a mixed bag but not worthless by any means necessary, and holds some of their best written material.

One album I'll probably never listen to is Mania by FOB. I didn't care for the previous two albums and I wasn't convinced that Mania would be something I would personally enjoy. Maybe its closed minded, but I think there's no shame in admitting that there's albums you won't listen to when you have a good sense of what your taste in music is. Thanks for sharing!

I get where you're coming from on Chinese democracy dude. I felt the same way. A year or two after it came out, I was given a cd of it and it just sat in a box untouched until 2021. I felt like I was listening to the same stuff over nd over again. I was feeling burnt out and wanted to try something new. So just for the hell of it I popped in Chinese democracy to get a feel for it. Its a ok album if you look at it as a Axl Rose solo album. Its not a true GNR album but I have to give the musicians who played on the album credit cause the work they did is pretty damn good. As a rock album in general its not half bad but a Guns N Roses album its not. If it had been marketed as a Axl Rose solo album it would have probably been better received by fans.

Chocolate Starfish is the best Bizkit album and it's fantastic, but yeah LB isn't for everyone. But you can't deny Wes Borland's groove mastery.
@ideitbawxproductions18802 жыл бұрын
to each their own, I guess, but I remember my brother buying that album, and all I could hear were songs they already did, rewritten. I swear they re-wrote Re-arranged 5 times on that album ("The One" is the only one I can remember off the top of my head). granted, I fell off the Bizkit bandwagon by then, so maybe my memories are a little biased.
