Thankyou to you the wonderful Sally Wainwright for your fantastic dedication towards finding Anne Listers grave. I will be there to lay my flowers alongside and get my cuppa Yorkshire tea you just offered. It’s so important to find her grave and be able to honour this legend of woman. Big thanks to you Pat and all of your team for this amazing channel and all things Lister and the well of information gathered with these fascinating interviews. Connecting fans all over the world. I am a northern lass living in Berlin and hope to come to Halifax. ❤️

Incredibly exciting! I'm going to join up to ALBW online. I have a question which might be relevant to the ALS meeting xx

I have a possible idea, but probably not a new one, and I don't know who to pose it to. I see Pat Esgate on here more than anyone, and she must be a real spit fire to beat cancer (so did I). I am American and most of my exposure to British film is through The Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) which you probably know is a publicly funded service. I have loved those presentation so much that I think I watch more of them than American shows,. Several times a year, while they run some of these shows, people will call in and donate money. Perhaps ALBW and/or the BBC could negotiate with PBS to have a donation drive with American viewers as well as UK and other countries, with all/some of the donations going to Season 3 of GJ which PBS, who would be granted a partnership. If it is then shown in the U.S., this could get more American fans involved and allow more exposure to of GT to more possible viewers. I have no idea if this idea is viable, but I am sitting here typing while listening to Pat peddling her ALBW projects. She seems to be an excellent saleswoman! From the States, I will be working on HBO. Good luck to all of us who care so much. Don't forget us Yanks. Jamalyn Campbell

I would love some feedback to my idea above, especially if someone knows how to get it to Pat and/or Sally. Thanks.

Jamalyn Campbell 23 hours ago At first, after I listened to your program, I thought , yes, we lesbians are such a threatening group. But I am not thinking it is just lesbians that are threatening, but also a couple of other groups. True. Though I am American, I have watched bunches more British shows (Home Fires, Crimson Fields, Scott and Bailey)beause they have many more women characters In Home Fires, one was a lesbian. Oh, dear, what had they done? SNAP. Despite enormous protest, it was pulled after 2 years. These shows also have many more older ladies - AND men. I think it is partly a generational issue. HBO admits it tried to target ages 19-40-something. 2 things interest me about this. Everyone has heard that younger men have an "unnatural" interest in watching or "performing" with lesbian couples. I know there is something to that because I taught English for 34 years, and occasionally homosexual issues come up in literature. I did not dwell on it but always noticed many of my high school boys would either grin at each other, or go all skittish and look at the floor if anything was said.. So, there should have been all kinds of interest from the targeted watch groups of lesbians and men to keep GJ going strong, IF they heard of it. And where "normal" woman are concerned, the producers must assume that they wouldn't understand. Why wouldn't women be interested in how other women work hard and succeed in business? Oh, wait! That would be men! But their interest would be fraught with fear and and irritation over someone like Anne Lister. They still are. But these poor women are probably deaf and couldn't hear the trailers. One of my best friends who is in her seventies watched the show, and enjoyed it, and guess what? She is not lesbian. She is also not in any watch group. I wonder if you have a relative or neighbor or friend where you work-older than you, who watched and loved the show, if it would be good to mention that briefly in your letter, text or email to HBO. Especially, mention anyone who hadn't ever heard about it and now missed what little we were given. Because if THAT happened, it is the fault of the promotion team. Be gentle, now. Lister Strong!
