Ironically, I think Alc needs to use this grass season to focus on patient baseline play. His feel for coming to the net has been off since pre-French Open, but his athleticism has bailed him out of poor positioning. Here, Draper demonstrated how to anticipate Alc's mistimed net-rushes and punish them with passing counters. With his net-play off and his second serve ever-vulnerable, Alc should ignore grass-court convention and rely on power forehands and drop-shots from the baseline.

One of the best performances from Musetti I've seen. But I've been wondering why people keep saying Mpetshi Perricard will surely be top 10 and challenging the top guys soon. For someone who has been watching tennis for decades, this looks naive. He couldn't do much more than serving, couldn't keep the ball in play for more than 1 or 2 shots. He's 20 but his wonky technique looks imported from 1990. Harris is 29 with a career-high ranking of 162, and was clearly a much better player in everything except the serve.

I watch a lot of Musetti - and that was pretty average for him (beating a lowly-ranked Nakashima in 3). As for Perricard: he's young but already has an ATP title on clay. You have to win 5 matches in a row playing well from the back to do that - he beat Sonego, Gaston, Bublik and Etcheverry along the way to do that.... He's probably hardly ever played on grass before.

Are the courts at Queens faster than in Wimbledon?
@luigimanzelli37867 ай бұрын
i don't think so, in Wimbledon early rounds it happens that really strong players suffer upsets too, Draper is one of those players you really don't wanna draw early. However Wimbledon has more players and they play more sets, so the courts deteriorate faster too.
@Matthew98187 ай бұрын
The grass is a different type maybe but i know for sure that the grass is cut shorter for queens . Hence why it is so fast .
@J.-M.7 ай бұрын
@@luigimanzelli3786 They don't deteriorate faster, the two main Wimbledon courts just host 3 matches a day, from afternoon till the evening - either two women's best of 3 matches and one men's best of 5 match, or vice versa. The Queen's schedule is 5 or 4 men''s best of 3 matches a day. So it's really only the second week in Wimbledon that makes a difference, otherwise the schedule is comparable. Besides, the grass at Queen's used to be a lot better years ago. Eastbourne has been by far the best for years.
