I've always felt like the odd one out preferring gibson style basses as opposed to the common leo fender inspired styles. I've been a fan of Newports and Grabbers, so when I first laid eyes on the Midwestern and the Lincoln I fell in love immediately. Great bass you've got there and wonderful aesthetics.

in all seriousness, cool bass and great review. so nice to hear how it sounds in context. I have also been intereested in a Serek for a long time now... maybe this was the sign that it's time to get one!

Great sounding bass! I have a Serek Midwestern 5 string and I love it. Jake and his crew make incredible instruments! By the way, that female singer you have on your rock opera sounds a lot like Alison Krauss. Beautiful voice.

What an awesome sounding and looking bass! I have always been a quantity over quality kind of guy when it comes to basses but that one sure covers a lot of ground by itself. This video may end up costing me a lot of money someday?? BTW, I just subscribed to your channel after seeing you pop up lately in Jonny Dibble's podcast and last night's 4 way livestream with you, Lobster, Dibble, and Bully. That was really fun! You guys should make sure you do more of those in the near future. Looks like you have a lot of great stuff on your channel too that I need to catch up on.

I'm curious why you decided to go full scale on it, rather than going with Serek's usual style of producing mainly short scale basses. What went into your decision there? Also, are the pickups on it identical? Interesting that position alone would create a substantial tonal difference, if so.
@ampthebassplayer3 жыл бұрын
It’s funny that Serek has become known for making short scales because Jake himself has said he never really set out to be a maker of short scales. I just went for the standard scale length, but I think I get another one I’d want to try out the 32” Midwestern 2 five string that he’s doing so much of lately.
@ampthebassplayer3 жыл бұрын
And yes, as far as I know the pickups are identical.

DR Hi Beams are what it shipped with, and that’s what I’ve kept on there. Surprisingly, I’ve not had to do a single adjustment to anything, even after two winters and a string change. It’s an extremely stable bass.

What made you chose serek over other custom bass builders and did you try one before you got this one?
@ampthebassplayer Жыл бұрын
My fascination first began with just loving the look. Sereks have that combo of classic and unique that it is really hard to nail. While I didn’t get to try one before ordering, I was pretty confident I would love the sound based on Hondo Felder’s excellent demo.
