Songs like this makes you really fall in love with solitude. Perhaps the reason why most people do not find beautiful this kind of music is because they have never felt alone enough to enjoy and understand it; it's in loneliness, when your heart aches and begs you to crawl that you can really feel it and have these fucking goosebumps

This is a brilliant comment, and so very true for me pretty much my whole life, even now, being married with little kids...this piece allows you to see the full majesty of that solitude like very very few experiences with other people can give you. Right on.

Five years ago before I left my home country and home village I was working by my parent's house splitting firewoods. It was the middle of January, the skies were grey, flakes of snow were dancing in the tree crowns. When this song started to play in my headphones for the first time in my life I felt a connection with myself, nature, and the divine esthetics of sound. I haven't been back there for a long time, but this year I wanna go back there in January. I will go to the forest by my parent's home, put my headphones in, turn this song on and dive into this beauty again. Thank you, Alcest, you remind me very important thing - loneliness can be beautiful and life is good.

you know the kind of music...which grabs your attention the first few seconds into the song? You go like "Ok, interesting" and then the song gets better, you be like "I knew it, this is promising, very nice" then it gets even better, you think, "This song is fuckin' brilliant, period." and then the final stages, be like "Can this song get any better?" and it actually does. That's the end, you have no more words to describe the beauty of the song. Well, yeah, I've been feeling that during every Alcest song I've been listening to today XD

Alcest - Écailles de lune (Part I) (English translation) Artist: Alcest Album: Écailles de lune Song: Écailles de lune (Part I) English translation Moon Scales (Part I) July's light goes out over the shores and, pensive, I let my thoughts get lost into the blazing horizon The murmur of the waves pacifies me, I make the most of this precious moment, inviting the warm seaside breeze to revive my languid senses Haunted by the illusion of happier days, I'm waiting for the echoes of night to arise over the sea My thoughts drown on the horizon

Only today discovered this group, randomly, while looking for other stuff...first piece was the title track on Kodama, which absolutely floored me, but this piece, especially around the 4:46 mark to just over the 6:00 mark, wow. Just wow. Like Joy Division distilled to 250 times its potency, but married to the most beautiful early Pelican stuff I've never heard...got really emotional hearing this...a truly transporting experience. These guys don't just do incredible things with their music, they literally show you everything we seek from the experience of it.

I'm a big fan of both black metal and shoegaze so when I heard of this thing called blackgaze I instantly left Wikipedia and came here although I don't even speak french. It is a sure thing that this band has its own style and Neige is a very talented musician being able to create such a good mixing of two completely different genres. Nevermind what term people uses to describe what this is, blackgaze sounds cool to me but you can even call it "beautiful music" or "pretty black metal" and it'd still be right.
