I don't really care what elitists have to say, black metal doesn't all have to be super tr00 grimdark to be awesome. Alcest has really caught my attention recently with their bridge between BM and shoegaze. Truly beautiful and atmospheric stuff here.

Totally, I think Black metal(BLACKGAZE in this case) is the darkest and the most beautiful music at the same time, ruining it with this Shit-attitude is the most PATHETIC thing you can say about it. IMO elitists only listen to shit music. So fuck them, they just don't know what they miss.🤘🏼

Moon Scales (Part II) Hours fly by, the sea sighs under faraway stars dropped as a trembling pinch of gold on the swell It begins its hypnotic dance, in which my discoloured gaze is engrossed Just as an airborne soul, I would like to disappear without fear under the waves, to hear their bewitched lament spring forth from the depths They'd call me from their kingdom of pearls and sharp marine scales to take me away from my kind, from a world which is foreign to me Holding their hand, slowly, I would like to sink into black waters welcoming me in silence To bid farewell to the glimmers of the morning, to let the cold currents purify my thoughts, petrify my flesh, so I can find sleep at the very bottom of the ocean

Pefect song for painting, trust me. You can exorcise your demons through the brush and music at the same time. I imagine this as a background music for a loud scream in front of the ocean. Why is this life so confusing, why is it so hard to find a way in which you are satisfied of being alive and useful to the rest? Why are feelings trying to destroy what our mental discipline tries to build?

Living at a cabin on Lake Huron really makes memories from experiencing this song so grand. Seeing the moonlight over the water is something else. Been living in Alaska for the past six months, and besides driving down the Turnagain Arm or chilling out on the Kenai River, it doesn't compare. I'm going back to this spot on Lake Huron in a few days, and will for sure be jamming this album from start to finish.

I'm a big fan of both black metal and shoegaze so when I heard of this thing called blackgaze I instantly left Wikipedia and came here although I don't even speak french. It is a sure thing that this band has its own style and Neige is a very talented musician being able to create such a good mixing of two completely different genres. Nevermind what term people uses to describe what this is, blackgaze sounds cool to me but you can even call it "beautiful music" or "pretty black metal" and it'd still be right.

Alcest and Agalloch, The forces that allow me wander lost through a majestic forest full of iridescent beauty. My known consciousness replaced by the desire to exist as one should, devoid of socially bred expectations and human constructs, in co-existence with the intrinsic aesthetics of the natural, true world. Alcest now actively carries that flame, however both groups will echo the hallways of eternity.

Listened to it after watching Maya Deren's "Divine Horsemen" and "At Land".. I suddenly needed to dance, I started moving to the rythm of music and I could feel the inspiration from Voodoo ritual dances in my own movements and body, and then I entered in a dream-like state, where every step of mine had a precise meaning... Though, in those moments, I only cared about instinctively expressing myself and I succeded. I love every kind of art and I hope I'll be able to make it my job one day. Alcest are very inspiring and this song is beautiful.
