@@crewdog2898Alchemy makes single stacks, too. So does Nighthawk, WC, Cabot, and many others. Dan Wesson is great for a premium production single stack.

Personally I like it. it is the way a gun should look. Some of the crazier designs I find less aesthetically pleasing

Reminds me of the Les bear ads on outdoor channel. Otherwise I never hear of Les bear 1911.

This acw is really cool bc its morseo a resto mod of the double stacks and 2011s that the fbi hostage rescue team specifically experimented with in the 90s with some modern touches like the slide mounted optic plate system. They messed with some STI guns and custom builds off STI frames, Caspian wide body frames, and for a while used Les Baer custom para ordnance guns known as "Les Paras". The draw back with all of them at the time being the magazines i believe. They ended up going back to springfield custom shop 1911s and then glocks inevitably. The idea of the duty 2011 is much older than many people think it is. Not exactly related to the FBI guns but there were also seals in the 90s and 2000s that also ran custom 2011s. The channel Ghosts of the battlefield on here has a good video with a seal where he shows his custom 2011 he carried with him for years and where they go over some other neat combat 1911 history if youre into the history side of things. Its pretty cool. Excellent video as always skip.

@@BrettHogue Larry Vickers also has a video or two I think on his podcast channel where he's talking about Delta 1911s and delta testing double stacks/2011s although I've always felt he has a little bias against the split frame 2011 design (no hate to Larry at all tho he's a legend) but it's also a very good insight into his thoughts and experiences and delta 1911 history. Fun rabbit hole to go down, often forgotten and over shadowed part of the platforms history and I really love 80s and 90s double stacks in general personally bc those are what i grew up shooting with my dad and friends.

@@ChuckSneed88 That’s good info to have, thank you. Alchemy has a resto mod limited edition series where they do 25 guns of each every quarter. There are some really cool examples on their website. Hopefully they pick up this ball and run with it, like they did with the MEUSOC.

@BrettHogue29 күн бұрын
Have an XC that SGz is working on currently. He’s also done my XL and a Prodigy. The Hi Cap probably isn’t most people‘s first 2011. But it slots nicely into my lineup around number six or seven.

Are you new to machining? I do agree with old school manual machining being a lost art. Specially old manual lathe guys.. some claiming it are running parts on mills with massive amounts of slop in the ways and spindle. Which is why so much hand fitting has to occur. Cutter wear is only a problem if you don’t know what you are doing. Tool setters are a thing because cutter regrinds are a thing.. the tool setter offsets wear. Both diameter and length. Run the pre setter after each tool change if you haven’t studied tool life.. go a step further and run probing. The tighter your machine and machining tolerances the less hand fitting you have to do. We have in house designed and properly EDM machines know as “fast hole”. Wire and 20kW lasers.
