I was sleeved May 25th!! Yes it hurts… He is correct in that the pain is manageable. There are 2 forms of pain; incision and GAS!! OMG 😳 the gas (air) is the devil reincarnated. Walk walk. DID I MENTION THE NEED FOR YOU TO WALK? Push yourself to get up out of that bed and WALK down the hallway. Take your IV pole with you and go walking. While in the hospital, don’t get comfortable sleeping upright in an attempt to avoid the pain unless your bed at home can be put in the same position. Take your time getting in/out of the bed. A heating pad has been a great comfort to me. With all of this being said, I have absolutely no regrets.

Yes! WALK WALK WALK WALK! The gas pain is the worst. Id rather give birth than have that gas pain. 🤣 I wouldnt change it for the world. I am about to my goal. 134 pounds. 130 was my goal. I am hiking and kickboxing and doing everything I couldnt do before!

I have a question... Was there anything else inserted during the surgery? Like to go to the restroom? I want to get sleeved but I'm scared they're gonna insert that thing they put when they're going to get kidney stones out your body... It has a name but i don't remember lol

I have almost completely stopped drinking. I used to drink bourbon 2 or 3x a week. Now I hardly drink alcohol at all. I had one beer a couple weeks ago. That's it since August.

Wow that's crazy thank you for explaining the anatomical/medical reasons why it's dangerous. I have been going out but only order water or a lime frozen non alcoholic drink and I usually don't need alcohol to have a good time. But I feel that is important to know your limits and don't succumb to peer pressure

For me thats a positive thing. Means a consume less alcohol and have the benefit without the damage to my pocket which is fantastic. I can babysit my little one drink in the club & then take an Uber home when I'm in Thailand.

I wanted to do a joke and it was a good one, but I didn't want to give anybody ideas of what WLS is not about. There are very few habits that will be convenient for me when I have my sleeve in 3 days: 1) I don't really like alcohol 2) I don't really like carbonated drinks 3) I quit coffee 7 months ago because I felt I was drinking too much and I wanted to see what would happen. My sleep changed so much for the better that I only drink decaf like every 2 weeks. Now I'm thankful I am so boring. But I still have a lot of bad habits to kill.

WOW, how about that. I used to wonder why I was such a cheap drunk after my surgery. Problem is, I haven't returned to the old 'normal' yet and it's been 3 years now. Good for the wallet, not so good for the Partner as she has to drive still. Thank you for the easy to understand explanation Doctor A.

It was really pissing me off that I can’t get past this in order to get the VSG… I’m not an addict but so much of my life is centered around drinking, didn’t realize it till I started researching VSG. 😫😫😫😫 So glad that this isn’t a forever thing. 😭

Once you get surgery even water will keep you full so no time to even crave alcohol I used to love drinking beer and a lot and now I don't really think about it, it's been about 6 months post op and in total about 9 or 10 months that I stopped drinking for pre op

@@mikahart9577 you will be fine I am sure. Follow the doctors instructions to the T and also the nutricional guidance and by the time you can drink alcohol you won't even need it. Your body will want water any time any day because dehydration is a bitch

You need questions, I have a few. When can you have normal size bites ? Will u always have to eat mini bites and wait 30 seconds between each bite and sip of drink? Does medication always help the acid reflux symptoms or do some people always have this issue? Do most people get skin removal approved by insurance? Maybe you can recommend what people can eat during social events. 🙏🏽

Dr Alvarez I've been considering VSG for going on 2 years and am finally going through the process. My surgeon is not very approachable and short when I ask questions. I've only met with him once and his team is pretty much the same. I'm 60 y.o. and worried about the surgery and vitamin deficiency especially looking older :0 I can only find 1 or 2 people over the age of 60 on youtube that have had the surgery and they rarely post...help please

Hi Dr Alvarez Been watching some of your videos and enjoy them as I will be getting my sleeve in 3 weeks from now... My question that I can't seem to find in detail anywhere is as I've always been a heavy lifter at the gym and was actually a body-builder at a younger age obviously I stopped training and kept on eating the same so hence the weight I've put on I still can lift heavy weights because of muscle memory mybquestion is when can I lift again heavy heavy weight and when are you supposed to be fully healed?
