So for wines there's a lot of different types of wines so the ones you have may just be bad wines. If you try to go to a wine tasting or something you might find something you find more palatable. When you said it was clawing at you're throat I think it might just be a dry red wine so you might want to avoid dry wines in the future if you don't like that lol but not all red wines are dry. There are also dessert wines which tend to be sweeter and more fruity and are often also technically red wines but very different from a majority of red wines you'd find otherwise. I'm not an expert on wines or anything but I find red wines to often be more complex and white wines to be a lot more reserved, so white wines are often easier to drink whereas a red wine you kind of have to take your time with but maybe that's just me. As for the Blue Moon, I remember that before college I only ever had drank cheap light beers at parties and always found it weird anyone enjoyed the taste of beer. But then I tried Blue Moon and was surprised I actually liked it as well. It's a very palatable beer because it's flavored with orange peels so it doesn't really taste like most beers and instead has a strong Valencia orange flavor. Definitely tastes absolutely nothing like Heineken lol. Blue Moon was my entry into actually starting to enjoy different beers. With the bourbon, I wouldn't let it just sit in the mouth, it tends to burn the tongue, like you said. Better to swish it around the mouth if you want to experience the full flavors or just swallow and breath out to relieve the burning feeling going down. Probably works for a lot of the liquors tbh. Yeah, Prosecco is just a white wine but sparkling. People think of it as basically a fancier champagne. Great video! Everyone's experience with alcohol is different so I don't think anyone should get mad at you for your personal taste :)

Canadian club is a very bad quality whiskey haha. And as a fellow Russian, I encourage you to try a better brand of non-potato vodka (I don't like potato vodka, for example), like Stoli or even Smirnoff. However, you're not supposed to sip vodka. You're supposed to down your shot quickly, so that you don't let the alcohol sit in your mouth and burn it. That's kind of true for whisky too, but for that you have to sip a tiny amount and swirl it around to neutralize the alcohol burn before you can taste any of the flavors they list in their ads (you can do it for vodka too, but that's not the traditional way of doing it). Overall, you have to get used to drinking in order to pick out those tastes lol. Maybe a vodka tier list? lol

My alcohol discovery journey was similar, but as I tried liquors that I liked less, I acquired the taste more and more for the first liquors I tried that weren't as bad lmaooo. But also, the more you drink that cider, the more you'd be accustomed to the Twisted Tea, and the more of those, the more you'd *possibly* enjoy the Blue Moon, ect, ect (and also, yes beers alone have a very broad range of tastes, and like you said, typically Heinekens get that "skunky" taste esp due to the green bottles letting in more sunlight. I think it's also just a skunky taste because it's similar in cans, but not as strong lol) I've now landed on LOVING Jagermeister (pretty good taste to me, still has a burn, but there's flavor with it and not *just* the burn of alcohol) and Spiced Rum (especially Kraken. I feel like spiced rum and whiskey are often contenders of each other, and spiced rum won my taste buds over for sure). Then I still like vodka often because it goes as a mixer with a lot of things easily. But in my trials, I quickly learned to hate tequila (especially cheap gold tequila lol) and brandy and gin are low as well near it. FOR NOTE: You can chase tequila (or anything lol) with a shot of Pickle Juice and it'll basically get rid of the taste and burn of the alcohol right away. NOT 100% but it won't be lingering nearly as much. Doing that with Tequila as a pair of shots to order has a... interesting name at bars 😅😅😅 P.s. sorry for a whole dissertation here in the comments but as an alcohol-involved person hailing from the drinking capital of the world, Wisconsin, .... I feel like I'm qualified lmao You'll be doing a bar crawl in Milwaukee in no time now lmaooo

KZbin brought me here after a Brewzle bourbon hunting video 😅. Always fun to remind myself of the perspective of inexperienced alcohol consumers. I was a rare specimen that started out drinking shit domestic beer and really enjoyed it. When I started branching out, I drank everything straight and after my first glass, the alcohol flavor never bothered me again. At this point, the only time I pick it up anymore is on really cheap stuff that doesn't have good depth of flavor. I recognize that is not the normal experience but I've always enjoyed the flavors of lots of different types of alcohol (except vodka and tequila, I only do those in mixed drinks). I love whiskey of all types but I think the Canadian Club is pretty bad. There's a lot of great videos on starting out on a whiskey journey with helpful tips for overcoming the initial wall of alcohol smell and picking up on more of the tasting notes. It gets to be an expensive hobby quickly though... Anyway, enjoyed the video a lot, always fun to see people try new things.

I feel like you should've gotten a real alcoholic to help you get some good picks. Some of these are just awful in general lol, BUT with stronger stuff better stuff just makes you recoil less in my experience. Most whiskey and vodka and other strong stuff is meant to be drank by itself but mixing it could taste good too.
@johng63506 ай бұрын
This was a very amusing idea for a video. While I can't speak about most liquors, I can talk about whiskey. For starters, if it's smelling like a marker, it's bad whiskey. That isn't you being a neophyte, it's just plain bad. Whiskeys come in a huge variety of flavors, but none of them should be *that*. I'm sorry that that was your first experience. Second, if you want to give whiskey a proper try, I'd recommend Bulleit or Buffalo Trace bourbons. They're inexpensive, and should both smell and taste sweet. Bulleit also comes in smaller bottles, and you should even be able to find it at most bars. Most importantly for you, if you still dislike them, you can safely say whiskey isn't your thing.

Soju by itself will always be horrible. Its popularity in Korea isn't because it tastes great it's because it's cheap and you can buy it anywhere. The peach one doesn't make it any easier drinking, it's a very artificial and not sweet peach flavor imo. I found the Chamisul fresh was the "easiest" one to drink straight. Honestly though the "best" way to drink it is either with Korean food like Dolsot Bibimbap or Samgyupsal. If you'd prefer just to drink then have it in a cocktail like Somaek (mixed with beer). Soju is sort of like gin in that it typically isn't sipped on it's own or taken in shots (except if you're Korean or in Korea lol).

Secret is, no one likes the taste of alcohol. even vodka is meant to be tasteless and is considered bad if it tastes/smells like ethanol or something. mixed drinks are mixed because it makes it easier to drink and thus easier to get drunk. Having lived in Korea, soju is a sneaky fucker. it mixes like vodka but you don't feel the drunkness till you try to stand up. Bare in mind if you go cheap on any alcohol, it'll probably suck. Vodka sold in a listerine bottle isn't good lol. You have to find what you like. I hate german beer but I love belgian trappiste monk beers. If you try Port wine, you'll probably like that because its very sweet but you may not like a cabernet or chianti. everything is a bit different. oh and all that "carries hints of vanilla and baking spices" is total bullshit. same thing with cigars, total bull shit from pretentious dick knobs.
