Especially after the 2021 season, it's easy to dismiss Max as "he's in the best car" and "he was handed the 2021 championship"; however, he has shown that he is near robotic in his performance and is a tier above the rest of the grid (two tiers imo). He'll go down as one of the GOATs when all is said and done: he is the Mario Lemieux of hockey or Shohei Ohtani in terms of peak performance.

Otherwise what is the point of having an academy? VCARB really need to focus on giving talented guys from their academy a chance in F1 and stop looking at the past with nostalgia. With Perez staying for 2 more years, and them being so stuck on DR, they will risk losing both their talented young drivers (Yuki and Liam), in the same way Alpine lost Piastri. In any case, I feel really bad for Liam, he and Oscar showed so much potential in the feeder series. I feel bad for Yuki too. They take forever to promote him, despite his performances. He is being kept there in a dead end street the same way Gasly was. Maybe Yuki should have a chat with Gasly and reunite with him at Alpine? Then Liam could take Yuki's seat. Or VCARB could give DR the McLaren treatment, but chances of that are probably similar to Lance Stroll losing his seat

It doesn't matter how many talents Red Bull has in its second team or its academy, they wouldn't give a chance to any of them to be promoted to Red Bull. Before renewing Perez even Sainz had more chance to be signed instead of Yuki or Ricciardo. And Yuki would be better thinking about moving to another team, because in RB Cash Visa or whatever is called isn't going to be on the front of the grid.

I was the one that never bought the Riccardo hype at the start of the year, people just thought he would jump in to the RB and be back to his old self and beat Yuki comfortably but i always had that doubt he would be the Riccardo from his McLaren stint and so far its been the same case. I'm just glad Yuki is getting the praise he deserves as he's showing himself to be a very good mature driver.

Yuki’s been very good, actually very consistent. I can definitely say now he’s a top 10 driver on the grid. His pace has always been there. I’d like to see him against a better teammate in all honesty. Ricciardo isn’t pushing him enough.

Esteban has got really strong pace but his decision making is just absurd, Perez although he’s got a very strong argument for being too 10 because of his seat. I just don’t see the hunger in perez when he’s driving anymore and he’s just not being consistent at all. Hulk is around the same area as Perez for me with being 11th/12th but that could just be me looking over his races due to him driving a tractor of a car

*I gotta disagree.* Zhou and Bottas are consistently shanked by their own team. They'd both perform significantly better with better pit stops alone! Drivers like Stroll and Ocon are worse IMO. Stroll is just a worse driver with a better car, while Ocon's inability to be a team player also makes him a worse driver in this sport (yes, he's competent at going fast, but teamwork and not crashing is a part of this sport too).

*The thing with drivers like Yuki is that they still have a lot of potential.* Ricardo has been racing for much longer than Yuki, and considering how they started fairly leveled, Yuki will eventually surpass him because he's still learning and maturing, unlike Daniel. He already showed that the past year alone. Same thing with Piastri. Judging by his current performance, I can see him being a 2nd-5th place regular, with 1st place wins coming as well. That's why I also think it's safe to say that drivers like Stroll aren't especially good, because they've had years and several cars to be better, but still end up doing the same mistakes again and again.

This is also shown by Alpha tauri, the decision to hire a 28 year old Nyck and then replace him with an even older and more washed driver in Daniel, even though Lawson for example deserved it a lot more. From RB's perspective they currently dont need to change, sure, Sainz would score more points than Perez, probably, but they are already succeeding and dont want change. I think they are only to put a stronger driver besides Max in 3 scenarios: - RB no longer has the best car - A very young and promising driver - If Max indicates he can retire or leave suddenly

Out of the drivers not mentioned, I think Russell is slowly making himself comfortable in the team leader role. Mercs are not in great shape, but he is consistent. Here I am being an optimist, saying that it's not Lewis having lost his drive and mentally checked out, but George getting more comfortable by the day. Still probably not in the top 5, but worth a mention with a massive 8-1 quali H2H. As for worst... well, we all know what happened to Ocon. And with the benefit of having seen Canada Quali, it's safe to say that Checo is a pay driver in the RBR thses days.

All 20 Ranked: 1. Leclerc (fast+consistent, minimal to zero mistakes) 2. Norris (fast, consistent but not to same extent as Charles 3. Piastri (very good recently, consistent all year, a few costly mistakes but also unlucky) 4. Sainz (very good start and consistent, would’ve led championship but fell off recently) 5. Tsunoda (just very quick but lacks consistent car performance) 6. Verstappen (started very well but since being challenged, just like 2021, desperate) 7. Hulkenberg (carrying haas as per usual and very consistent) 8. Russell (quick,somewhat consistent but some errors, (crash and tyre management) 9. Hamilton (struggled at the start but showed more pace as of late and better tyres) 10. Albon (Williams only points and been consistent with slow car) 11. Bottas (been ruined many times in races and has extremely slow car) 12. Ocon (been destroying Gasly and one mistake makes him underrated) 13. Alonso (started well, severely fallen off and worse than stroll recently) 14. Perez (started well, like Alonso but fallen off a lot in the best-2nd best car) 15. Sargeant (much improved but not at Alex’ level yet, bad pit stop in Japan and bad car) 16. Stroll (never been particularly quick or consistent but moments of class, Sakhir comeback) 17. Gasly (very outclassed by teammate but some class moments, whole of Monaco) 18. Ricciardo (same as Gasly but with Miami sprint) 19. Zhou (inconsistent but glimpses of potential with incompetent team) 20. Bearman (only 1 race, 18 but 2nd best car) 21. Magnussen (literal terrorist, slow, useless and dangerous)

I don't really see why people are surprised that Yuki is beating Daniel... Yuki has been at that team for 3 years and knows the ins and outs of the car. Doesn't matter how much of a race veteran Danny is, he already has a track record of finding his performance in a narrow window. Just like I don't think it is surprising at all that Redbull main team doesn't want Yuki. He is tied to Honda. Honda has cut ties with RB. Yuki doesn't play second fiddle. RB doesn't want another lead driver butting heads with Max. People keep looking at these things from their own ideal perspective of what "racing ought to be", but that just isn't what it is. It is just as much a game of internal politics and team dynamics as much as it is who is faster on track. Yuki can be the fastest ever person to be in that Alpha Tauri / Toro Rosso / VCARB seat and it still won't get him to Redbull right now. That's just the cold hard truth.

Norris has done absolutely nothing to prove that he's better than leclerc. He bottled a sprint win and nearly bottled the gp win in Miami with the clear fastest car and lost with the fastest car in Imola and almost got caught by leclerc in the slower ferrari while leclerc although also has made mistakes (Mostly just getting used to tyre warmup) they have been less severe than Lando's mistakes who is also starting to get beaten by Piastri

Magnussen actually races. He’s my favourite driver on the grid and is responsible for half of Hulks points. I wouldn’t say he deserves to be in top 5 worst drivers as he’s just done his job most races and Checo is just as much to blame if not more in Monaco. Also the racing against Hamilton in the sprint was so fun to watch. Also your value to your team is through the roof if you’re Kmag he does what it takes to score points for them

You still have to give Logan and Zhou some credit. Theo are Both not very experienced in the top step and are both in shitboxes of Cars (especially Zhou) and Logan has improved a lot

Magnussen ain’t been bad, had it not been for him the team wouldn’t have scored in Jeddah, he did a great job in Melbourne, he was decent in Bahrain & Japan and was actually quite quick and decently faster than Hulk in Canada, should’ve been in the points had it not been for Haas. To me he’s been much better than Zhou, Sargeant & Checo this season at the very least.

idk why people fail to comprehend that you can’t overtake around imola with a similar paced car and hulkenberg gifted max pole by giving him a slipstream he would have been p3 and finished p2 or p3 otherwise also after his crash into the wall in monaco which no one fails to mention he said no one could drive that car faster even though he was comfortable top 3 in the first 2 quali sessions as well as that in bahrain he didn’t set the fastest lap - people especially content creators never want to put an original thought out there when max has clearly not been the best driver this season as no one else has a package suited to them i personally think he consistently drives 95% of the car which makes him the most consistent but certianly not the fastest and when he is under pressure - bollard in miami - into the wall in monaco - imagine if charles had done that what the media would be saying this narrative is so lazy

FWIW my worst five in worder of worst to least bad : Worst - Perez, 2nd Worst Sgt, third worst Stroll, 4th worst Zhou, least worst of worst Kmag. Oh and best Piastri (only 2nd second & okay Aussie bias but still), 2nd) LeClerc for that monaco win alone, 3rd) Sainz, 4) Norris, 5th Alonso. Max unclassified and impossible to tell given his superior car and vastly inferior teamate. Minus points to Max for cowardice - and just so sick of seeing him walk alway with too easy wins..
