So glad the KZbin algorithm brought me here! You really encapsulated the charm and beauty of these towns and local churches. Loved your eye for detail - the bench ends at All Saints' Church were a particular treat. Hope to see more content next year!

I visited St Andrews a few years back to photograph the relief of Mercury which appears briefly in your shot. Great video thanks for posting and if you’re ever up on the Wall?

I'll have to remember to return when the Roman site is open in warmer months. It is the home of the Aldborough wolf mosaic, one of my favourite works of Roman art, now in the Leeds City Museum (which I go occasionally specifically to see). If I'm ever up on the wall I will give you a shout. If you're ever in York, also!

@@churchcrawling I'm very sorry, but the mosaic in the Leeds Museum is now seen as a fake - that is it was created by a Victorian Builder out of genuine Roman tesserae. I do hope you now come to the site (open Fri, Sat, Sun and BHs) where there are two in situ mosaics, and the remnants of a very high quality 4th Century mosaic in the museum.

All Saints Kirkby Hill is a little gem with some amazing antiquities on display. You could spend hours in there. I was fascinated by the road sign indicating 32 .5 miles to Piersbridge. (I used to live in that village on the Tees with a different spelling) Great to have you back…best wishes for 2024. P.s. have you heard from Martin Man Of York recently

Great to hear from you as always, Dale. This was a very special day trip and I was pleased both churches were open (or access could be arranged) as there was so much more to see. I don't know Piersbridge, so will have to check a map! Best wishes for 2024 to you, too. I have occasional messages with Martin (Man of York). We wished each other a Merry Christmas and he is doing well I think. I would love to see him make some more videos but he is a busy man (@themanofyorke6708) I gather! 🙂
