⭐️ SAMOSAS -MAKES 6 small
1/2 cup flour
dash salt (was not enough, next time I would use 1/2 tsp)
1 1/2 tbs oil
1 1/2 tbs water
First mix together flour and salt, then add oil and blend with your fingers until it's all clumpy like in video. Then add water, being careful not to over handle the dough. Then let rest for 30 minutes. I covered mine with a wet towel. Then roll out and form into shape.
Fill with mixture and fry until crispy.
NAAN BREAD
Exactly the same as above except add 1/4 tsp baking powder.
When rolling out, keep it thick and then fry in a hot well seasoned cast iron skillet. I also brushed some additional oil onto the pan.
Let me know if there is anything else you need.

I am surprised at all the things you created with that teenie tiny budget/ amount I of food, but I shouldn’t really because you do this for yourself daily! I just I could look at the food you chose and actually SEE what you are imagining for a 3 day meal plan! The closest I get is writing down your list of groceries, and hoping I can sort of copycat the recipes. There is not one thing you have created that I would not eat. Thanks for helping me save money by simple, healthy, tasty & clean meals ! Going to ALDIs on Sunday is a regular thing for me so thank you for being here, I really appreciate you.

I love your meat free videos because I’m vegan and especially when it’s an extreme budget because so many people say they can’t go vegan because it’s too expensive😒and I think lentils and beans are one of the cheapest things you can buy, especially if you buy them dried. I also liked that for breakfast you ate cucumbers with hummus with the strawberries because it’s not a “typical” breakfast meal but it was healthy. I love that you are always thinking of the nutrition factor😋 Thx for another great video

Hello! Those samosas look great. Those are on my "must make" list. I was wondering if you ever made wilted lettuce salad. I don't know if that is regional fare or if it is just not popular anymore. I know it to be spinach and dandelion greens on a plate, and then a boiling hot dressing is poured on top. Croutons and strawberries are then added. I remember eating that as a kid. We used cider vinegar that complimented the strawberries. So glad you could make this video. Have a lovely week.

I’m in Manitoba. Grocery prices are out of control in Canada. Does the store you go to price match only the flyers or can you pull the store up on an app and have a price matched based on the cost in the store? I’ve only seen cashiers be able to price match off the flyers. 🇨🇦

I like this challenge because I think it’s more realistic for average people because most of us aren’t just coming straight from the store with nothing in our cupboards and some of the challenges are almost that stark. Most of us have some dry spices and oil and flour. This is one of the healthiest looking challenges I’ve ever seen you do . I’m sure you normally do healthy ones. Awesome as always! I see a lot of frugal eating content with deep-fried foods. Cooking oil is so darn expensive these days that I can't justify using that much oil (only to discard it after) in any of my menu plans. I'm curious about why most food content creators don't remark on the high price of frying oil and almost never account for it in a menu plan. I realize that it is a pantry staple but goodness.....the price of it!!! Thanks for the ideas!
@ArdentMichelle
@ArdentMichelle 3 ай бұрын
Hello 😁 Regarding the cost of oil - that's why I mentioned that you can use the air fryer or bake them instead. The one I did in the air fryer wasn't as light and airy as the one in the air fryer, but it was still good. I have to ask, why would you discard the oil afterwards? I put it in a jar next to my stove for future use. I can't afford to be throwing out oil. 😂 As for why content creators don't count for the cost of oil or flour or any other staple for that matter, is because those are considered pantry staples so the majority of our viewers already have those. If someone doesn't have it, they can simply add it to the budget or omit using it. I purposely incorporate flour into these extreme budget menus to show how valuable it is in extreme budget cooking. Glad you like my videos!

Bravo! I am always impressed. Healthy, varied, and super budget friendly. No need to spend more than necessary to make interesting, non complicated meals. I love love love lentils. One bag makes up a lot, and the possibilities are endless. Really an excellent option for those looking to stretch their budget, stretch their meals (either to add bilk/volume, or to reduce ground beef use for those that include it). I'm going to make probably all of this. I usually have everything you showed. You did things I wouldnt have considered. I never put strawberries on sandwiches, but it makes sense for texture and taste balance. I've used thin sliced apples with major success, so now I have to try strawberries. I'm super keen on the lentil hummus. I liked seeing what you had left over. Lentil patties for sure for me. Just add seasonings and enough flour to hold it together. No need for any other binder. Bake or fry. I dont even always make a "burger". Sometimes I just heat one up and eat it from hand. Or plate it with some spinach, etc. Everything looked really good. Again, bravo!

Good morning Michelle, I got ideas from this video, l love when that happens. I have been using strawberries a lot recently in salads and desserts along with blueberries. They are cheaper in the stores so I buy often. Yeah, I like to make pita and tortilla chips but only enough to eat in one sitting because they lose their crispness fast after that. Not that this has anything to do with todays video but I make a lot of pizzas and calzone type things so I made a major purchase this week. I bought an outdoor table top pizza oven, it was on sale at Costco, today I am making pizza. I made calzones recently and have filling left for one pizza and left over chicken for another. I'm pretty excited about it. I will be making a lot of budget meals to pay for that. Anyway that's for sharing today. Have a super week and look forward to next Sunday. A fan forever Charlotte

I made a lentil ragu recently that I really enjoyed with carrots, onions, lentils, and a can of crushed tomatoes along with garlic and some italiany dried spices. It was supposed to be for pasta but I ended up letting the tomatoes cook down some and ended up skipping the pasta completely.

@@ArdentMichelle thank you, there is also a salad called fattoush salad. Which has verdulaga in it . Or as we know it it's called purslane. It's very healthy very inexpensive, the Lebanese version of it is the best. 🌺 The best thing about it is it can actually go with a lentil pilaf. If you look at this salad it's so refreshing it has cucumbers mint verdulaga and toasted pita bread lemon Aleppo pepper oil, tomatoes 🍅

Good to see you Michelle. Rain today so watching your video like sunshine. Hummus is a favorite. I love lentils. Have you tried black beans. I like the idea of strawberries on a sandwich. I actually kept track of the expense of making my favorite white bean kale Turkey curry soup. $8.29 for 6 generous servings. I used mostly Nature Promise Brand ingredients and not all were on sale. I know you could cut the cost drastically. 🎉 I might sound extravagant but I do manage to stay close to and sometimes under my SNAP allowance. 💟 have a wonderful week.

@@ArdentMichelle glad to share though I just do some of this and that with spices and my mood 😆 Turkey chili. 🌶️ 1 pound lean ground turkey 1 can cannelloni beans. Low or no sodium Onion 🧅 about 3/4 cup Frozen corn Frozen peas Baby carrots ( I used one serving size each) Kale 🥬 I used 6 large leaves. Curry powder, dry thyme and oregano, Mrs Dash table blend, Badia garlic parsley mix. Kosher salt. Spice it up at serving with your favorite hot sauce. Cholula is mine. A few drops of Apple Cider Vinegar or a squeeze of lemon. Olive oil. Grated cheese or Feta is optional Sauté the onion. Cook Turkey breaking into a large crumble. Add the can of beans and I rinse all the goodness into the pot with 3 cans full of water. Bring to a boil then add frozen veg and carrots. Reduce to a simmer. Add Kale and cook till tender. Sometimes I add left over cooked pasta or rice. I put them in the bowl on the side because I didn’t like mush. Black Bean hummus. Can of low or no sodium black beans. Drain. Keep the liquid. I like to add Badia curry powder. Garlic powder. I will add salt to taste at the end. If it’s too thick add some bean liquid. I skip the oil and lemon 🍋. I don’t care for tahini. Too bitter and expensive Thank you for asking.

I was watching your colcannon video as well: there you used the filling in a tortilla and fried it; it seems to me that you could also use your samosa filling from this video in a tortilla (instead of the empanada dough) and fry it in a pan...I think the lentil filling would be good that way as well...dts/usa

I love these challenges!!! I made big pot of gumbo today, and a loaf of homemade bread. Not a budget meal at all but something I’ve wanted to try my hand at!! I’m waiting for my daughter and grand daughter to come over so we can dig in!! I found the prettiest little strawberries at Food Lion today. They were only $2. I’ve never seen this particular kind there. They look like berries from the local farm that sells them but they’re from California! I’m about to cut them up and see how they are!!As always…..so good to see you!!! Lovely video!!!!❤
