As I recall, in Oblivion there was a book that referred to Aldmeris having be lost beneath the waves of the sea. Implying an Atlantis parallel.

i read somewhere a book said that the old ehlnofey (mer) fled from aldmeris to escape "doom oblivious". which may be the same thing that happened on tamriel with the oblivion crisis. one of my theories is that aldmeris sunk due to this, maybe also yokuda. there were no survivors of the sinking of yokuda, therefore it cannot be denied. Aldmeris also could have sunk due to the rising sea levels (which i forgot what caused them). this is unrelated but who is to say akavir has not sunk either, as an expedition to akavir hasnt been attempted since the 3rd era. EDIT: i dont want to trigger some people if im wrong so disclaimer i dont know if it was the old ehlfoney or the aldmer (mer) that fled EDIT 2: i also dont know if the aldmer are ehlfoney i know they are atleast descendants if not

@@Tpbond That is an interesting theory regarding Aldmeris. I don't know this book, but I wouldn't dismiss it. As for Yokuda... I thought it sank due to powerful magics during the war between the ancestors of the Redguards and the "Left-handed Elves"...?
@Tpbond
@Tpbond 4 жыл бұрын
@@archades115 yea thats is one of the theorys but i havent found anything that confirms it. that might just be that i havent. if it isnt confirmed, with the new elder scrolls VI that takes place in hammerfell there might be some new lore on yokuda and hopefully the reveal how it sank. and regarding my theory on how aldmeris sank due to failure to protect them selves from their own oblivion crisis, i think it would be interesting if they reveal that yokuda did sink from a oblivion crisis. but now that i think about it, it could have been the ansei like you said because it said "the left handed elves were completely wiped out by the redguards ancestors and the survivors died with the sinking of yokuda". now for them to be completely wiped out must have included some powerful magics. and the survivors probably would have said something about a oblivion crisis like event. maybe yokuda sank before a oblivion crisis could have happened.

Pretty sure I heard that the redguards home land was the one that sunk

@@Tom-cp1zy Yokuda. It did sink, after the final battle between the ancestors of the Redguards and the "Left Handed Elves." But some islands and ruins still exist. Whereas Aldmeris was never found. Though there is the theory that Tamriel is Aldmeris.

I have a hard time believing that Aldmeris doesn’t exist, surely, just considering genetics alone, there had to have been a place of origin for all elves where the proto-elves originated. Be that on Tamriel or elsewhere, though even that I doubt bc of historical accounts dating as far back to Topal the Pilot

@@arawn1061 wow. i actually never thought about that. the atmorans were wondering ehlfoney from- wait, where were the... wandering ehlfoney were from aldmeris to right? they turned to men and the atmorans were men. elves were there before atmorans though i think. nevermind there might be a flaw in your theory or (most likely) a gap in my knowledge. if there is a gap in my knowledge please continue this conversation because im actually curious now.

I think you're pronouncing Ehlnofey wrong. Of course I can't be sure of it, but usually when something is "fey" in a fantasy story it's pronounced like fay, not like fee.

I've always thought Aldmeris was involved with Artaeaum and that when the Psijic Order believes they're not needed they relocate to their original homeland of Aldmeris and only return centuries later when Tamriel needs to be rebalanced and guided (Also, perhaps like the Psijic Order and Artaeaum, when the people of Aldmeris don't wish to be found they can become 'insubstantial' or immaterial along with the island itself so that they and it can't be reached.

I think if Aldemeris exists or existed then only the Psijic Order could know where it is as well as having contact with the continent.

I imagine Aldmeris, as well as every other continent that isn't Tamriel, is an echo of a previous kalpa's "center of the world." In some cases, other continents come into existence fully populated and fleshed out (Akavir, Atmora, Thras) while in other cases, they've already suffered some great cataclysm, or else are so utterly detached from this reality that they don't seem to have ever existed at all (Aldmeris, Yokuda, Lyg). These differences may have something to do with the manner in which those kalpas ended or how "long ago" they ended (although kalpas aren't really sequential, they all begin and end at the Dawn Era).

Hey umm... Isn't it alduins Job to end the kalpas? I mean did alduin destroy yokuda?
@ultratankie
@ultratankie 7 жыл бұрын
One of the theories I've heard is that Alduin is just one of several "world-eaters" created by cultural belief. The Yokudans believed in Statakal, a serpent similar to Alduin, who probably manifested and ate Yokuda after its cataclysm. It's also important to consider that world-eaters probably don't just show up and end the kalpa on their own; they're probably meant to appear near the climax of another apocalyptic event, and then they devour everything before that event can fuck Mundus up too much. For instance, Alduin might have appeared had the HoK failed and the Oblivion Crisis got out of hand. But Alduin's appearances in the Dragon War and in Skyrim were both attempts to conquer and enslave the world, not to eat it.

Fallout Junkie I'm not really a big fan of the every continent is nirn at a different point in time theory simply because I feel it cheapens the scale and mythos of the world and it also contradicts records of the 2 atmoran migrations and the akaviri invasions, it just makes everything a bit convoluted. If anything I think the most likely theories as to what happened to aldemeris is either a.) It's been hidden by the elves who still reside there similar to valinor in lotr or B.) it was simply destroyed or sunk in ages past
@ultratankie
@ultratankie 7 жыл бұрын
Oh I agree, I dislike the idea that continents are different points in time; Yokuda is the past, Akavir is the future, and Atmora is "static time" (whatever the hell that means). What I'm suggesting is that each continent is very much its own thing, with its own history in this world, but they aren't the most important place in this universe -- Tamriel is, as evidenced by the attempts of just about everyone and everything to invade, colonize, attack, or otherwise meddle with it. In another universe, though, a place very much like Yokuda was that center of importance. It may not have been the ruined island chain that we can sail to now, but it was the land of myth that the Redguards hail from. Whenever we have a missing or ruined landmass whose inhabitants tell legends of a vague cataclysm, like Yokuda and Lyg and Aldmeris, my money is on those places being remnants of other universes whose pieces somehow made it into this one. Populated lands like Akavir and Atmora are trickier; I would say whether they are part of the "creation nexus" in our universe or not depends on whether they have any Towers.

It kind of makes sense for mer to come from Aldmeris, but it also doesn't. It fits in with how the Nords came from Atmora and settled on Tamriel. But then, Tamriel is huge, and it wouldn't make sense for no men or mer to exist there.
