I think its safe to assume that the Canonical Last Dragonborn is a Nord, and very importantly we see other Nord Dragonborns in Sovngarde. This seems to imply(to me anyway) that afterlife of a homeland has a greater claim to a soul and if there's disagreement there would be a fight. Akatosh and Shor don't seem to sort to fight over the soul, so it would just be TLDB and whatever allies they have in death to fight back against any Daedra foolish enough to try and take TLDB to a daedric realm. And most of that Mead Hall is probably on Team Dragonborn, so it really would be foolish and not worth the effort for one soul, even one really powerful soul.

LOL, actually they could get others to get them food. Pretty much most of Skyrim admire them. The only ones who hate them is the Blades which is more reason to support the Greybeards.

Nice video. But I am in the other shore. After playing so much vanilla, I moved to play heavily modded skyrim. Now, I feel my time to start modding skyrim has come. I will even mod FO4 and join big scale projects like Skywind or FO4 New Vegas.

The fact that you’re a NORD, the empire is set up as the bad guys who tried to kill you, the storm cloak quest line is cooler, the emblem of the game is fractured empire symbol, hammer fell successfully rebelled and won against thalmor, you kill the emperor, the mead dynasty is illegitimate, guerrilla wars are effective, the thalmor want to keep the civil war going bc ulfric is a rogue asset who hates them with a passion and isn’t bound by contract to them and stormcloaks winning is the worse case scenario for them, etc… I can go on and on why the storm cloaks won the civil war and how they’re canon/best choice. You have to be lore ignorant or delusional to reality or your RL politics that’re anti nationalism are bleeding over into a setting with distinct and different races with legitimate homelands. If you truly want what’s best for the empire you’d see them dissolve and reform after clearing out all the corrupt elites and merchants who puppet the warlord mead dynasty that’s weak. Ebonheart pact and ulfric allowing elves in his war capital alone prove he’s not racist. But nords have every right to be hateful towards elves they genocide the nords first, the thalmor want to collapse the world towers and destroy the race of men (empire enables and are ignorant to it), if you know anything about the mythric era and the battle between lorkhan and trinimac you should understand why nords being independent (their right btw) is best

Harkon is as you said, thousands of years old. limited to only going out at night or heavily cloudy days. So if you were to have known the world from say two thousand years ago, only been able to catch glimpses and only gleeming information from third person points, you might not realize how much the world has changed or how vastly outnumbered you are.

On the exploration point, this was a huge part of the fun for me. Further to this point, you were incentivised to explore ruins, high level items are rare and don’t just spawn on NPCs when you hit a certain level. You could get a daedric weapon early doors if know where to look or are lucky enough

I played vanilla skyrim back then for a year when the 3 dlc came out I achieved all the the thousands of hours completing all the quests there is no point playing it again in a pure vanilla way specially when I started creating mods and using mods from other mod authors I can't go back to vanilla it's too oudated for me with all those UI, Maps, the boring stealth system where you can literally crouch without anyone see you in broad daylight, those boring stiffness of the models(I'm talking about hdt-smp) and all that fx We already have this mods that can change the skyrim into a new age skyrim just don't go beyond the balance of things like making your character so strong at low levels specially at mid levels, most of all I love new worlds mods like beyond reach and vigilant se and those high hp dragons with new type attacks

If skyrim was well written, my playthrough would be conceived of nothing but killing evil daedric gods, annihilating every last bit of the thalmor dominion, and hiring adventurers of my own to clear dungeons for the greater purpose of conquering all of skyrim. And then once I claim the throne as high king, I unite the imperials and stormcloaks under a lawful treaty to defeat Alduin. All that or I just become an immortal skooma dealer.

A few disinformatives in this video: 1. Skyrim and Hammerfell have the strongest military and size of force. Hence why Aldmeri Dominions demands during White Gold Concordate was south portion of Hammerfell, and banish Talos worship. The dominion knew these terms would spark rebellion in Skyrim and Hammerfell. Hammerfell left the Empire shortly after Great war and fighted Dominion alone. Hammerfell did not accept giving away the south portion of their land to the dominion. The Aldmeri dominion know that Great War 2 will be much easier with Skyrim and Hammerfell out of the Imperial Forces. Skyrim isn’t weak compared to Cyrodiil as you state. On the contrary, when the Empire recaptured the Imperial City during Great War, the reinforcements from Skyrim was vital. These reinforcements from Skyrim made the difference to ensure a deal, and not defeat, after the great war. On a sidenote, because Skyrims nords had to reinforce the Empire again and again during great war, the Reach became vulnurable, and thus sparked the forsworn uprising. But my point is, The Aldmeri Dominion and Thalmor knew Hammerfell and Skyrim were the strongest fighting portion of The Empire, and therefore set them up to leave the Empire, so that the Aldmeri can fight each province at a time, because if High Rock, Hammerfell, Skyrim and Cyrodiil stand together, the Aldmeri have less chance of victory. So the Empires best move would be to allow Skyrim independence, but they should sue for a «nato» pact between the human provinces instead. But to summarize, the outlaw of Talos, and the demand of land from Hammerfell by the Aldmeri, was a brilliant strategy. I love the depht of this universe

23:37 In My Time of Need only works when the player has a birds-eye-view of lore. I think the Dragonborn would only see warriors harrassing women on the side of the road and whose leader lives with bandits. A provincial Nord wouldn't have the education to make the "right" choice.

I really liked Morrowind, but the fact that you can't apply poison to your weapons basically ruined the whole game for me. It's such a stupid oversight. There may be mods now but it really bothered me when I realized my assassin could make poison but not use it. Why have mortar, pestle, alembic etc. and leave out this detail? It's been 20 years and I'm still mad about it. FU Bethesda.

Oh I don't think it feels empty at all. There's not much there because it's easy to traverse, I think it's that simple. You'll get from map marker to map marker quite a bit faster than in some areas of the map that are objectively denser because there's no pesky hills or running water to get in your way. Anything more and it would feel comically cluttered. Whiterun Hold is similarly flat, but I'd argue that 1) It's a more fertile and therefore developed area, so that mitigates the feeling. Even the ancient nords and dwemer didn't have as much reason to populate that area as they did Whiterun Hold and 2) Whiterun Hold does still manage to feel very cluttered in places. The atmosphere of Skyrim and the experience of playing it has as much to do with the feeling of getting where you're going as it does with what you do when you get there, maybe more if you're not fast travelling from literally anywhere to whatever the nearest discovered location to the quest marker happens to be at the time, and in my opinion any more map locations would just completely ruin the impact of the marsh.

I do agree that Morthal is irritatingly small though. It's like two Shor's Stones, and that's highballing it. I haven't had much reason to visit blacksmiths in any run I've done recently, but I'm screaming for there to be a general goods store in Hold Capitals.

I miss modding and there are several mods I wish I could play with, but generally speaking, I'm glad that my last couple hundred hours have been on Switch. Nothing but the OG, clean vanilla babii. Since I've been on modded 'rim nostalgia, I've looked into a view overhauls and such that I never tried. And I just don't think I'm interested in most of them, at all. Would more perks make playstyles hypothetically more diverse? Sure, but with a little intentionality in skill use, there are dozens if not hundreds of possible playstyles in vanilla anyway, and more perks would do away with the all-powerful feeling I get late into a run as my primary skill perk trees fill out. Are new quests fun and well-written? Sometimes! But even after Shor knows how many hours, I still find new experiences to be had in the game. Are needs mods massively beneficial to roleplaying and immersion? Of course! And well, it may be bare-boned, but Anniversary Edition with its baked-in vanillish creation club needs mod does address this, as does it address (at least partially) how garbage Destruction Magic is. To be clear, I'd be happier with a needs mod--but survival mode gets the job done just fine. I can second this video!

The silly thing about the Paarthurnax business is that their argument isn't even so much that he needs to pay for the things he did long ago, but rather that he cannot be trusted, that he might someday turn. Oh no, what an insurmountable crisis that would hypothetically be. If only there was some group specifically dedicated to hunting dragons...
