Aldo Colombini Special Edition | Magic 5x5 With Craig Petty

Three words to answer your question about seeing effects by Aldo Colombini, which are: More. More. More. I had the pleasure of meeting Mr Colombini a few times and magic conventions, where he had a booth. Watching him demonstrate his amazing effects was a lesson in Magic. The difference is that mere mortals, such as myself, could perform them. I learned over time to stop at his booth first, so that I wouldn’t run out of money, before getting to him. At one convention he performed about 5 or 6 effects and as each one was completed, I asked him to set it aside. As his lovely wife packed up my purchases, I turned to Mr. Colombini and said, “Mr. Colombini” ….he put up his hand and asked me to please call him Aldo.” So, I started again … “Aldo, there is no doubt in my mind that you are a living legend.” He smiled and replied, with a strong Italian accent, “You said living, right?” Then he asked which effect did I like best, of those he had just performed. I explained that I had absolutely no idea whatsoever how Pre-Deck Ability was done. He removed the zippered baggie from my bag of goodies, containing the booklet and handed it to me, stuck out his hand to shake mine and said, “Thank you for enjoying my work. This one is a gift.” You may have already mentioned this, but his company was called “Mamma Mia Magic.” Thank you Craig for allowing me to re-live that magic memory.

Bro L and L Publishing did put out his creations in the Close Up Magic of Aldo Colombini which I’m sure you can still get as an ebook. Also many of his card magic came out as books and ebooks published by his own company MamaMia Magic eg Simply Impromptu 1 and 2.

That final routine is a much better handling and effect that the main one using that gaff. So clear and the using the coin matrix to set up the 'ace assembly' is genius thinking. RIP Aldo, you legend.

Would love to see you use a card with a “smudged” pip found in most gaff card decks for the 3rd selection on the Yikes! trick if you’re going to encourage the spec to touch the primer card. Adds another moment of magic for free and gives the 3rd revelation a different wrinkle. Great video.
