Thanks a lot! I never got into flamenco because I thought that you (like with classical guitar) need to learn it properly with a teacher or you'll pick bad habits. But strumming is what I'm interested in flamenco and it seems that I can learn flamenco strumming by myself thanks to your video! It's way less complicated than I thought! I already strum pretty well (especially with my thumb) so I just need to begin slow and careful to not get bad habits, and then I'll be able to play this in no time!

what does it mean if it has 3 nylon strings at the high notes?@@Korrow
@tlacayelice6156 Жыл бұрын
@@madmenboss On the classical guitar the 3 bottom strings, unlike a traditional acoustic guitar which is made of steel, are made of nylon. It almost looks plastic like and doesn't have the same ring as a acoustic one.

Thanks a lot One of the best tutorials about how to play Rumba rythm on guitar. I have a problem: when I mute the strings with all fingers, I get a delay before move 6, 7 and 8 that I can not seem to solve. Another issue is I can not seem to find balance between soft strumming and hard ugly strumming. What's the solution ? I appreciate your reply
@aldolikafi Жыл бұрын
One important thing is to have nails, do you have nails? Then it makes it easier to play this technique. Also when you block the string (move number 5) just slide your fingers (middle-ring) up without moving the arm. I hope it helps

I can never get used to the traditional rumba pattern, for whatever reason it just doesn't feel natural to me, so I invented my own pattern that sounds essentially the same : ) It's mainly the part where you have to go up with the thumb after down stroking with the fingers. Makes me want to hit it with my thumb after in a downwards motion because that's where the thumb naturally falls, so it feels very awkward to not do that for me

Hey guitar professor. When I was practicing this with increasing speed, I realized that I was scraping and damaging my cutile(nail skin). How would you deal with the cuticle problem? (growing out nails, wearing protection??)
@aldolikafi Жыл бұрын
It is important to shape your nails in a way that they slip to the strings. And avoid edges on the nail that will damage your nails when you play

Great video! I am totally blind, and though I think I do have the patterns down correctly I seem to not be getting quite the same sound... I tend to keep my nails pretty short most of the time... Do you have to have somewhat longer nails to play Flamenco music, or do you use certain styles of wearable picks?

when ever i do it, (slowly) it dosent sound as sharp, it just mixes with the other steps. im a beginner. can you give me any tips
@aldolikafi Жыл бұрын
Just do it slow but each movement fast. So movement number one do it fast and leave 2 swconds before you play the next one, and repeat that over and over again. The problem is that you slide on the strings slowly not that you play slow. You can play slow but with fast movement just leave a gap between each movement :)
@kaz_zxsws10 ай бұрын
May I ask you something? I want to play faster, but when I do, I feel stuck at step 8 and repeat 1 again. Will I have to remember and get used to it before I can play faster?
@aldolikafi10 ай бұрын
Definitely! My recommendation is to play the slowest you can. An example maybe you could play every movement one time for at least for 3 seconds before you get to the second movement and so on. Also repeating out loud which movement it is so you don’t loose the count. Then you want have a problem remembering ir stacking at the movements 8-1. Good luck!

your first 2 movements are with your thumb.why not keep using that only?whats the reason to use the 2 other fingers in 3rd movement? does it change the sound or that technique will help players playing easier at faster speeds?
@aldolikafi Жыл бұрын
Yes it helps mostly to play faster, it also affects a little bit the sound. But the main reason is to play at any speed you like. It is confusiong to play with the same finger all the time and try to cound when to tap the string etc etc.

@aldolikafi10 ай бұрын
there is many ways to fix your nail shape. each one has a different way of shaping. A good way to start is grow you right hand nails long. Then shape them in a way that they do not have any edges and they are round. and from there you can try different shapes

The actual reason that your guitar doesn't sound better is because you are playing rumba flamenco on steel string. Rumba flamenco is only for this guitar on the video or classical guitar. You can play it on steel guitar but it doesn't sound good. Hope it helps bro ✌
