Suggested challenge. Mod is "Alone against the world". 1936 start, pick any major (or minor if you're brave, but it's doubtful they could win), ~2 weeks in an event fires and you can merge the whole world but yourself under 1 banner. (For democratic and communist it swaps all the nations to the type and merges them in an alliance, if fascist it merges everything into Germany and gives them cores). The enemy in either case also gets all divisions that the nations had, as well as their fleets. Then about a month in an even will fire giving you the option to start the war Now, 1 year, or 3 years. In my experience for Germany, US, or Britain runs... best to do the war ASAP rather than wait. But it's up to you. Goal of the challenge... Survive, or win. I'm doing it myself. Had a couple runs as Germany that got decently wrecked, but have been doing "alright" as USA.

I feel like with 3 years there are a couple nations that could probably bunker down for 10+ in game years just destroying the AI manpower and preparing an army to push back the eventually understrength AI. Britain and Japan seem relatively obvious choices as island nations for example

@@deeznoots6241 Haven't been able to hold as any of the continental powers yet. Everyone with some water to delay does do much much better. Britain/Japan can straight turtle. Japan has easier access to expand into the other islands (which the AI will struggle to maintain) whereas trying to expand as Britain is rough (honestly, the run I did, I had the best progress heading west and landing in the eastern US before the save got corrupted) My current run is USA vs SuperGermany. For them I find that you need to do the war ASAP, as you're can't remove the depression fast enough anyways, and every day, the "Enemy" be they SuperGermany, or SuperComintern puts more divisions on the Canadian and Mexican border. (can however get the Homland Defense Act decision pretty easily to remove the depression and jump to war eco and almost max war support) Got a bit hairy, but was able to push everyone out of North America by early 38 (3 army groups, 1 eastern canada, 1 western, 1 mexico. Push into each to deny supply in Canada and minimize the length of the front in Mexico) Spent ~2 years holding at the southern tip of Panama. Waited for some light tanks and motorized to build up, and to put some more ships out (Honestly, really should have just gotten cruiser subs and spammed them, but that feels a little cheap with how bad the AI is at handling subs) 1940 started working my way through South America. Mostly sprinting across both coasts from port to port building railroads in between for supply. Its mid 41 in my game RN and I've almost got South America fully taken. My plan at the moment, once that's done I'm going to clean up the caribbean. Really wish you could remove ports btw as garrisoning the ports on the east coast of both north and south america takes quite a few divs. Don't really have a plan fully sorted yet for what to do after the Americas are "secure". I sent a fleet to Iceland to find that there's like 60 divs there, so IDK how well I'll be able to take that as a stepping stone into Europe, and I've got the fleet heading to the Pacific last I played to peek at a few islands. Perhaps the right play would be to head West and island hop to Borneo/Java for the rubber supply. but IDK. I only really get to play every couple weeks, so we'll see in a few days.

fun fact, had that issue with models being glitched and not showing, which is a DirectX9 problem apparently. switching to DirectX11 does fix the issue

I don't really know why Lower Silesia is a Polish core but I imagine it's because of historical reasons. Now, that region switched ownership quite a lot during the history. However, its biggest city, Wroclaw (or Breslau if you're a stinky German) was founded by Poles. Not only that, I believe back in 1930s it had a substantial Polish minority. About that I may be wrong but it was a disputed territory. After WW1 a vote was held there. However, voting took place during Soviet - Polish war and the population decided it was safer to stay with Germany (not that it made the difference. The territory had been occupied by the Germany for the previous 123 years)
