Taking some steel beside the wood... ??? ... :-D (... and not working out a tall edge but a large hard and painful edge, when hitting the offenders 'Gluteus quadriceps' , hahaha!) All the best, and stay healthy, Greetz from Schwiiz, RoB

Awesome work. I love how well you explain things. I'm curious about your drill press and the movable vice when you made the handle. I've never seen a set up that way before.

That's awesome! Thank you. That is my milling machine, it is a super glorified drill press.

I think you'll have real fun making a Dirk with its tight gripped handle and usefulness just about anywhere especially when camping however the 13 inch long blade might be odd at first I definitely recommend it. 😀👍 P.s beautiful katana love the rose wood giving it a nice finish

hi airin does the wood mess up your belts,great ider my 8year grand son wants a knife,this could be a good ider..your a good father!! thanks walt..
@Aleeknives4 жыл бұрын
No id does not. I have a belt eraser that cleans the belt after I am done. However, if you have used the belt for metal already it is not good to use it for wood because it will most likely embed small metal particles in your wood that will oxidize and discolor the wood. It can gum up your higher grit belts so I normally use the 36, 80, 120 and leave the 220 out.

For someone who has zero background for anything of this nature how can I look into learning this? I've watched forging videos for years now and have always been interest in black smiths in all forms of media but I've never seriously considered attempting anything like this

That's fantastic that you're ready to take the first step! I produced several series on my Channel about how to make a knife from Ground Zero. Or the stock removal knife tutorial. I'm getting ready to do a series on how to make a knife with the bare minimum of tools, expect that Series 2 come out in about 2 weeks
@skaggon12754 жыл бұрын
@@Aleeknives Thank you so much I didn't expect a reply especially so early. I was just looking through your playlists. I look forward to the new series. Unfortunately I'm not in a position to go out and try yet but ill definitely be watching your videos and doing research too. I really want to learn the reasoning and history behind some of the stuff I see. Like I know when they put steel in ovens and stuff thats for tempering but I don't understand the science behind it and why thats important. Thankfully I've got a lot of time on my hand to study these things. I really appreciate the reply!

Hey dude🤘🏻 A wooden katana is call a bokken. Japanese for blade is “ken” and “bok” is to train or practice. Therefore we have a bokken. My knife is gluing up now! Pictures later, man 🇬🇧🤜🏻⚡️🤛🏻🇺🇸👊🏻😎

Thanks Sudo! How do you feel about me answering you by name? I understand if you want to maintian a low profile on the net though.
